Tokyo to Nagoya (for ayu concert) advice??

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I plan on seeing ayu's concert in Nagoya because that's the only date during my stay in Japan. But I'll be staying in Tokyo so need to travel there for the day. The shinkansen looks like it's gonna cost around (or over depending on where I look) 7,000 yen each way. I can't really afford that. I've also looked at the JR travel pass thing for foreigners, but considering that I plan on spending most of my time in Tokyo, that's too much money. So is anyone else planning on doing the same or has done in the past that can give me some tips??

Any advice will be welcome

You can take an overnight bus from Tokyo the night before the concert and then another overnight bus back after the concert, but you'll be exhausted. Or, you could just take an overnight bus one way and take the shinkansen the other way (if you've never been to Japan before, you should take the shinkansen at least once anyway!).

Thanks! Do you know how long the overnight bus is and how much it costs?

It takes about 6 hours. You can probably expect to leave Tokyo somewhere around midnight and arrive in Nagoya around 6-6:30.

If you don't speak Japanese, Willer Express is probably your best bet. (http://willerexpress.com/bus/pc/3/top/). If you buy your ticket three weeks in advance, I think you'd be able to find tickets as cheap as 2500 yen.
