Most disappointing albums
So we have a lot of topics concerning our favorite albums and whatnot; but what about a topic about albums that left us disappointed? It can be from all the hype to just an artist making the wrong decisions in regards to genres. It can be of any language.
For me, this year had two really disappointing albums. Miley Cyrus - Bangerz "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball" were such great songs. So when I purchased the album, I was excited to hear what she had to offer. Instead, I got half-ass album tracks...There were maybe like, three other good songs off this 16-track album that I liked. Just so disappointing. Especially with all the hype concerning Cyrus. Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2 The first release in this two-part release was amazing. It had great song lengths, great production work, and amazing lyrics. So I was extremely excited for part 2. I listened to the entire thing and was left utterly disappointed. This entire release sounds rushed. So what about you guys?

I also agree with BANGERZ. WCS and WB were amazing singles, and I was expecting something great. Instead, we got an album full of Rihanna and Kesha rejects. Surprisingly, most of the people I know seem to really like it

BENI's Red
I was really looking forward to this album and I love BENI as a person but oh man is this album dull. I just can't get into it. I feel like her target audience was 40 plus. Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind in the future, but for now this album was a big disappointment for me. 2YOON's Harvest Moon I'm starting to get more into the album now but I feel so cheated! The title track is fantastic and totally country pop but the rest of it doesn't even have a hint of country, which is why I was interested in the album in the first place. They could have created a whole new genre of music but instead they produced yet another (somewhat generic) K-Pop mini album. Orange Caramel's ORANGE CARAMEL Like with 2YOON's mini, I'm started to get more into this album now but it honestly feels like a waste of an album if you didn't buy the CD-Only edition. Without the last three solo tracks, there are next to no original songs, and there's only one or two new, non-single tracks. I love Orange Caramel but I don't know what Avex was thinking.

Dominique A's Vers Les Lueurs. I was expecting something experimental or at least weird or whatever. The first single was too poppy for my tastes, but it wasn't completely bad. However, that half assed song turned out to be the best of the album :/ People commented it was an epic album, but several listens didn't reveal any hidden gem. I still hope his next album is more to my liking.

For Bangerz I was hoping for something amazing. I didn't get it.
It's not bad, but it wasn't as good as the singles. Avcii's album was also disappoint for me. Lady Gaga's Born this way... #sadness |

I hate to say it but the first that came to mind was LOVE Again, she chose to release all the best songs as mini albums and then release a bunch of mellow filler on the album. It felt so rushed and like it was just business as usual.
I don't even think it's bad, it's just there and does absolutely nothing for her discography what so ever. Don't even know why she bothered to release it. Bangerz was definitely a hyped affair as well. I loved the singles, FU & #GetItRight but the rest are so mixtape sounding! I respect her as an artist and actually love what she's doing right now, but the material could have been so much better. And oh my god Christina Aguilera's Lotus, don't even get me started on that mess.

Born This Way was disappointing for me, yes.
All of Beyonce's albums. Love Songs. Since everyone is talking about it lately. Lana Del Rey's albums. Although Paradise was a step up. Coldplay's last album. Great singles, shit albums.

LOVEagain OF COURSE. It isn't bad at all (actually, 3/4 of it is superawesome) but it was such a letdown after the singles/minialbum/whatever. I definitely had too many expectations on this.
And Lotus, because I know Christina can do so much better, and she can't just get me all excited with Burlesque vocals, just to give me this mess. Use you damn voice, girl. You have born to use it. Then, GIRLS GENERATION II Girls&Peace. It wasn't so bad, but the first songs sound so generic and uninspired, especially if you compare them to great upbeat songs like PAPARAZZI or FLOWER POWER. And Oh! is so out of place. Well, it was a so so album, and after the first japanese debut one they had (which was perfection) it sounds even duller sometimes. (ps: Bangerz is soooo cooooool, lol! ![]() Last edited by marty; 16th October 2013 at 05:20 PM. |

Lady Gaga - Born This Way (I only like Scheibe, You And I, The Edge of Glory out of the whole album... which is a very disappointing follow up after the amazing The Fame Monster)
Katy Perry - Prism (Roar is ok, the rest of the album... too similar with each other and too generic, One of the Boys is still her best) Pixie Lott - Young Foolish Happy (Turn It Up/Louder has many nice album tracks and singles, but her second album does not) Britney Spears - Circus, Femme Fatale (only like 1-2 songs out of each album, and my interest on her has decreased significantly since Circus) Christina Aguilera - Bionic, Lotus (only like 1-2 songs out of each album) + ayumi hamasaki - GUILTY and Love songs (only like 1-2 songs out of each album. I think her best album is (miss)understood which has a variety of genre and most songs are very catchy)

Miley Cyrus - Bangerz
The rest of the album is just meh Katy Perry - PRISM It's nice but that's it, so far I'm not that impressed or pumped up yet as with her previous albums Beyonce Albums Her album tracks are always hit and miss, some I love some are not my taste Ayumi Hamasaki - LOVE again This album is one of a boring ride, LOVE and again tracks are great with some OKs but the album tracks are mostly snooze fest Cher - Closer to the Truth Another hit and miss case but the addition of it being sounded undated These are so far I guess |

Namie Amuro - Feel
All tracks sound the same and the english is horrible, this album is totally uninspired. Seems like a desperate attempt to remain relevant. It's her worst album since GENIUS 2000. |

I was expecting a lot from Bangerz too since I loved Wrecking Ball.
Bionic and Lotus by Christina Aguilera, she has so much potential yet these albums sound either generic or messy. Madonna's Hard Candy: I'm far from a fan of hers, but she has amazing stuff in her discography and, after the perfection that was Confessions, one would expect a lot more than this half-assed album.

If Im to mention all the albums over the years that disappointed me this would be a 5000 word essay but let's stick to this year's releases.
Quote:
Nin: Hesitation marks. Its as if Trent Reznor forgot who he was and all the music he ever wrote, reverted to being a teenager and tried his hand at being Avril Lavigne. Embarrassing. Chris Cornell is having the last laugh. Janelle Monet : Electric Lady. Only 2 songs really stood out and Prince is totally wasted on his collaboration. Depeche mode : Delta machine. Also mostly boring and uninspired. |

I actually bought this album because I really liked her contributions to some songs I've heard over the years and I was stunned by the beautiful album cover (well, the Target deluxe edition cover anyway); but was left a bit disappointed idk. Her style of music isn't my favorite. But Q.U.E.E.N. is a pretty good song.

I also think that FEEL is terribly overrated. It is a great album, but it is not a jpop innovation like some of you guys call it, is basically Western producers giving Namie the demos that western pop divas dont want. I still enjoy the album, but it is far from Namie's great albums
