1. i dunno, don't remember
2. yes, as a matter of fact, in indonesia (in the common CD store) you will always find hamasaki CDs in the mandarin section, it didn't matter to me at first, but now it starts to annoy me, why don't they just make a new 'JAPANESE' counter?

1: Nope
2: Yeah it annoys me, but my mates were only doing it to wind me up, calling everyone Chinese! BoA, Ayumi, Utada... anyone! So I started talking about Jolin Tsai deliberately and they were all 'Ohhh the Chinese lady huh?' And with a grin I said: Yeah, you got it right for once! Haha! Now they don't do it anymore

1. A while back then when Ayu wasn't to popular here, I saw this huge Ayu poster in a chinese store, I was amazed!

2. Yeah, I'm really freaking sick of that. And that's also because I'm chinese. And I hate the fact that everybody thinks that everybody who is asian is a chinese. They don't know the different types of asian ethnities. I hate it when people call my friend chinese, because they are not. And in my asian friends, I'm the only one who is chinese and people kept on saying "oh, that chinese group". -_______- it pisses me of!

1.) The only place I've ever found Ayu stuff was in a little store called Yu Yu's Oriental Supermarket where I used to live. They had some horrible bootlegged Ayu cd's. Other than that, I've never run across Ayu anywhere...

2.) My friends never call her Chinese, they always know she is Japanese. Of course, sometimes someone will try to immitate the Japanese language, but its usually really an imitation of Chinese. That's what annoys me.

1. Nope. Not even in Montréal's Chinatown.
2. Yeah, one of my mom's friends keeps saying that I'm listening to "chinese" music. Yesterday I showed her the new CDs I just got and she said "These Chinese girls are so cute! (talking about Morning Musume) I'm sure Chinese music is good." -_- Japan is not China!

yeah, all caucasians are easy to mix up!

but since the US's asian population is a majority of chinese, that's all they think... but this one kid in DC saw me, and i was happy because he called me japanese.... but sterotyped me into saying "o, i know you karate!" and i got irritated at the pronunciation of "Karate"... i get irritated at that and "tae kwon do"... since my friends are korean and i have to learn their pronunciation system... also, it's irritating when you can say something in japanese, and then they respond "oh, chinese stuff" >.<.... but i don't mind, because i'm chinese!

YAY!!! at least my parents take an interest in the music... my mother calls it JPOP at least, and had her co-worker make a CD... and my dad likes the 1990 - 2002 stuffs... he doesn't know what to look for to update his library...

1. Yuppers.. at the LIBRARY ~ ! My friend has borrowed a few of Ayu, MFLO, Chemistry stuff from the library and passed it onto me.
2. Um.. I've had this problem myself. I'm mostly Chinese (about 35%), but also Japanese & Filipino (quarter each) and everyone assumes I'm full Chinese (and that we all look alike .. gawd..), and they don't really believe me
I can't really tell some Asians apart, but if you put their names on a paper, I could tell by their first names/surnames.

Chinese and Korean last names are normally short (1-2 syllabals), compared to Japanese - their's can be either short or really long (Fujibayashi, Hamasaki, Oosaki, etc)

My uncle told me that

Wow I didn't know until now that westerners classify asians as chinese. I was telling my mom I sometimes think the westerners look alike and my mom told me that the westerners think we asians look the same too, lol funny.
