On one hand, I'm disappointed. On the other hand, Fairyland was not that great of a video, and plus it's MTV...

I don't know about everyone else but I am very sad at this... Remember when it was announced that fairyland was like the most expensive jpop video in history and they were really trying to promote Ayu with that single and it didn't turn out to well... They tried really hard and I think Ayu deserved to win!

^ Please don't bash Koda Kumi. Koda Kumi's Butterfly PV and song were really good! And how can Japan be dropping just because they like someone's PV over Ayu's? If it was someone like Namie Amuro or something I bet you wouldn't be saying anything like "Japan is dropping"

Because the PV didn't look like it deserved 'video of the year' :/

There was many other ones that could've gotten it.. but Butterfly..? O_O;

Well, yeah, but it was 'Best Pop Video' that it was nominated for..

Not 'Best Female Video of 2005' or 'Best Video of 2005' :/ Obviously fairyland is not that good XDD

But it could've had a chance at the pop one, you know? Maybe even Butterfly.. but.. wow. O_o; To win overall out of all the PVs from 2005.. it shows something.

And imho, fairyland was awesome compared to Butterfly. xD No random butterflyeyemakeup or bras sticking out xD Koda's got some big thighs and trunk...even that guy in that parody of her had like.. not even anything there.. xD

Fairyland had gorgeous nature footage and pictures. I thought the light in the PV was awesome too (natural Hawaiian lgiht), and I really don't see what's so bad about it, allthough I must agree that it's not my favourite ayu video.

I'm glad that a koda song that's actually listenable won. Butterfly is clearly inspired by Cutey Honey, and that style is quite nice.

THe PV on the other hand is quite meaningless compared to ayu's (which had a story, etc) and allthough there are som nice scenes, it reminds me of generic MTV american video; some half ok dancing, "sexy" scenes and mindless plot (actually, there's no plot!). THis may work in some PVs like forgiveness which was semi-plotless, but it had so extremely nice scenes it diden't really matter. Butterfly is not a bad PV, but it's not extraordinary. Even SHimatani Hitomi's falco did that "type" of PV better.

Personally I don't care for much, seeing MTV's questionable selections EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

Yeah, I'm a fan of Koda Kumi and I don't think the PV was all that special. The reason why it won was because the song was so popular. And it's my least favorite song too. ^.^;;; She should stick to R&B instead of generic pop.

Anyways, I'm kind of sad that fairyland didn't win. Although it's not my fave PV, seeing it from the DVD in High Quality made me realize just how beautiful the scenery shots were. It should've won.

I think Koda Kumi has better songs(You, D.D.D., Candy...) and better videos(D.D.D., Hot Stuff, Shake It...) than Butterfly¬¬

Fairyland is better than Butterfly in my opinion...

well...frankly, ayu's fairyland deserve to be the best video...and koda's one...good but nothing special. fairyland is such a meaningful one which talks about many matters in people's life: to enjoy, to be happy, and eventually everything turns out to be just like a mirage...ugly fact wakes people up...

so fairyland is not just an expensive video, i learned a lot from it.

i think other ayu's music video also deserved to be the best...is this LOVE: such a powerful way to show the girls' sadness, alterna: conctains the most uglt side of our society, HEAVEN: good too...

well...ok, even madonna doesn't get this award every year, i do believe everything will turn out to be good!

besides, ayu has lost here, but she may obtain more somewhere else. right?
for example, obtaining more in her love with her boyfriend.

Really I thought a lot of the ones that won did not have very good videos. This is supposed to be the VIDEO awards not the MUSIC awards.
