Rock Influence in Secret vs. MY STORY

I like the style of the songs better on this album, and on the album I am ... But these are really 3/4 of the only songs I like on this album.

All those threads about genres always walk away into the direction of which songs belong to which genre . Genres isn't something consistent, make of them what you like. I agree with Impact on the INSPIRE is no where near rock, STEP you isn't a rock song but I stand by my view of it as containing rock elements, drums, guitars and all.

Secret is definitely heavier rock than MY STORY. I can see how people might find MY STORY bland, but I thought it was great. In my opinion she pulled it off as good this time as for MY STORY, but going in another direction with the (very wide) genre.

*Petit*, while overall most of her albums never contain anything over 50% rock songs her album only tracks have been very rock inspired for both MY STORY and Secret. I believe that to be the reason people consider then "rock albums". When the album comes out you skip the single tracks and listen for the new sound.

The only rock song of MY STORY that was released before the album was GAME, and for Secret it was Startin', if now you consider Startin' as rock in any sense.

Perhaps this was the reason that I should have been looking for. Instead of wondering why people supposedly dislike the album because of it's rock influence, I should have been wondering why people even think the album contains so much of it in the first place.
