TA Message 362 - What does "Mixing" mean?

Great message for anyone who's wondering... ayu explains what exactly "mixing" is.

I'm now officially making a guess that this is an album she's working on now. At the end of the message she says the work isn't over yet (which may mean that even after the two songs she's recently recorded, she still has more to do), and then says that the message is "dangerous" - a word she usually uses to describe spoilers.

I guess we'll see!

"What does 'mixing' mean??" I get this question alot, and it's sorta hard to explain.

"Mixing" means, as its name would suggest, blending together the vocals and musical instruments and such. However, even if you say "vocal", there's the vocals that sing along to the main melody of course, but on the other hand, there's also harmony vocals and faking vocals, so there are alot of channels used just for the vocals.

Of course it's the same for the musical instruments, guitar and bass each have a channel, drums have a channel... Here, the raw sounds are added together, and as you might expect, there are alot of channels used too.

Once everything has its own channel, how do you know when you're done? The best thing to do in this case is to just keep working and then listening until it sounds right.

Then on an absurdly loooonnng & flat table, there are tons of little knob-guys lined up in row after row.

This little knob-guy goes to this sound, that little knob-guy goes to that sound, and it seems like you move one of them just 1 millimeter up, or just 3 millimeters down, and the song's entire feeling changes dramatically.

If I could slide the knobs on this table........

Both eyes would get red, and I wouldn't be able to open them.

So, there's "mixing" for you, but it's still a rough voyage to go on. I mean that in a good way.

IT'S NOT OVER YET! \(^0^)/\(^0^)/\(^0^)/\(^0^)/
THIS ISN'T DANGEROUS, IS IT? \(^0^)/\(^0^)/\(^0^)/\(^0^)/

*Whenever there's a reference made to ayu crying, she calls herself (or says that others are calling her) "benzo-san". I do not understand this reference yet, if anyone in japan can help me out, that'd be much appreciated.
