Confusion in ORICON News Update
"また、自身が持つソロ歴代No.1記録の「連続初登場首位獲得記録」を「23作連続」(2位:松 田聖子 12作連続)に更新"
Source: http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/rankmusic/78299/full/ From my reading of Japanese, it says that Ayu has renewed the record as a solo artist for first place in terms of having the highest number of consecutive singles which is 23 gaining the number one spot. Matsuda Seiko is in second place with 12 singles. I agree it's common knowledge on this forum that Matsuda Seiko should be at first place for that record with 24 singles as of now so I am a little confused with this ORICON update. Does it mean only the first day sales and not the weekly? But in that case, it's contradicting as well because I remember HEAVEN only taking the number three spot on its first day of release. Hopefully a native Japanese speaker may be able to provide a more definite explanation? P.S. I posted this in the MOON/blossom ranking thread but no one seemed to care or a native Japanese speaker did not see it, so hopefully what I believe is an important update can receive some attention here. |
