Gaga may be obnoxious and pretentious as hell and the song may be lower quality than some of her other stuff, but Katy's song has personality?
Its as safe as it gets. IMO, she's a textbook popstar with textbook songs (E.T. was a gem, though. THAT you can say is distinct in her discography) and Roar is more of her standard fare. Let's not pretend its something that it isn't

Just because a song is "safe" doesn't necessarily mean that it lacks personality. Personality does not imply that a song is out of the box. What I mean when I say that the song has personality is that I feel like Katy Perry is being genuine in the song. When I heard "Roar", I felt like I got a glimpse at who Katy is-- in other words, her
personality. I'm not even going to pretend that "Roar" is unique or raw or anything like that, but neither is Lady Gaga's song.
