I saw the video of Ayu miming it but I didn’t realize it was actually her singing until almost the end! Her studio voice for this is completely different. Seems she’s completely transitioned away from that emotional style of singing. I hope it’s only for this track. You would never guess it’s the same artist who sings The Show Must Go On for example.

I understand it’s difficult if not impossible for her to maintain that style, but I guess the main appeal with Ayu for me was that she always sounded as if someone was wringing her heart dry as she poured out her soul into the song. Almost as if she was in pain because of how strongly her emotions were consuming her. Here it just kinda sounds like she’s sitting pleasantly in a rocking chair before a floor full of snot nosed kids singing nursery rhymes. Lmao.
