It seems that a lot of people really don't consider Ayu's titles and lyrics very closely. Maybe some people are reading poor translations, but for the most part, Ayu's titles always appear in the song in some way, shape, or form. It's just that the lyrics are Japanese and the titles are English, so the titles appear in the lyrics usually as concepts rather than words. They are very much conceptual, to embody the idea of the entire song. Others, like HANABI or CAROLS, don't appear in the song, but either suit the song's musical feel or have some sort of personal relevance (eg HANABI being the name of the bar where the emotional story behind the song took place).
Ayu generally has the best titles, but the only ones I would change are: 1. "theme of a-nation '03" because it deserves to be a stand-alone song. 2. "Startin'" because I hate when people chop off a perfectly good "G" in writing. 3. "Are You Wake Up?" because it is absurd, even if it was intended to be a pun on Ayu's name. As far as name puns go, "Ayu Ready?" was a lot more clever, because it was a pun that actually worked on both sides. I am not a big fan of the phrase "Beautiful Fighters", but since it appears in the song anyway, there's no real point in changing the title. |
