uraayu photoshoot

this isnt actually a question about the shoot, its a question about the name

is uraayu even a japanese word

because i kind of see it as Ura-Ayu (Ura meaning hidden, right? Ayu obviously Ayumi. like, hidden ayumi) which is fitting since the shoot is pretty weird. XD

anyway, is this true or what?

some one asked a question about this a long while ago and some one else explained. I'll try to find the thread for you. It was a nice long explanation that I cannot possibly remember right now...

I'm self-quoting only because since there, I have noticed interviews where Ayu actually explains that it's the other side of herself. The word "ura" itself means reverse or other side.

really? i always though Ura meant hidden (which, used in 'hidden ayu' it wouldn't be too far of from meaning the same thing as 'the other side of ayu') so i guess i wasn't too far off. either way, thats cool!

Cool. Been wondering about this forever. Such an odd name, but I guess it makes sense after reading this

I always liked that book, because in our Russian word "ura" means "YEAH!!!"

It's one of Ayu's photobooks. She shot it in Hong Kong, so many of the shoots incorporate the look & feel of the city.
