Where is Nina Simone today?!

Well lately ive been getting into a lot of jazz/soul/blues artists, one of which being Nina Simone. *another in particular being Billie Holiday* Ive read that she's known as The High Priestess of Soul...yet i had never heard of her before hearing Feelin Good on American Idol. if she was so big, why isn't she ever mentioned on specials or countdowns etc? And also, why doesnt she have a star on the hollywood walk of fame? I find it strange that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have a star while Nina Simone doesn't. And i also never see any of her music at stores. Ive looked everywhere...Barnes and Noble, Borders, Bestbuy, everywhere. It's like she never existed.

Dunno ... maybe she has a monument ... somewhere ... but she's still popular at places that are known for good old soul and jazz ... she died 4 yrs ago ... maybe she'll get a grammy posthumously ... who knows ... the important thing is ... would you rather have her a star next to mary kate and ashley anorexic than her good music in remembrance of what she was ... a great singer? I don't think so.

Perhaps she's not recognized as much because she does jazz/blues/stuff. I don't really ever hear about those kinda stars.

Where did you hear that this woman was so famous? I've never heard of her. Maybe I'm just severely misinformed though, because the closest thing I can think of to Nina Simone is Raven Simone

I've heard of her quite often. Never listened to her though because I'm not really into that type of music. And come to think of it, I never see her in stores either.

She's stuck in the "Point of No Return" Movie starring Bridget Fonda. Never seen it? You need to watch more movies.

But seriously, that was the first time I ever actually heard of Nina Simone. The main character LOVES her, and I was thinking about downloading some of ehr stuff because I liked what I heard from the movie.
