oh well it's the Japanese industry. Releasing at a time with no competitors requires a certain level of statue. I mean, if ayu ain't that great, who would allow her to release on a week that will guarantee making her weekly no. 1? Companies between must have some agreements that allow B'z, Mr. Children, ayu, KinKi Kids, etc. to maintain their no. 1 streaks.
Of course, one day when ayu can't even beat the low competitors, her streak will be broken so it doesn't matter when to release her singles. But at this point avex will try the best to save the streak.

It's very frustrating seeing certain artists work so hard and release something different yet sell so low. Hitomi Shimatani is one huge example.

Hikki is another example. That's why we dun see her getting the usual no. 1 as it was back to be. Although it's good that she still maintain in top 3 somehow (and plus excellent digital downloads).
I dun think ayu can create a super new stuff unless it's sure that that innovative song will maintain her no. 1 streak. Just look at BnD. I guess everyone agrees that it's something really new from ayu... But look at its sales and how it affected (miss)understood's sales.. I guess it's a gift that BnD could maintain weekly no. 1 even tho it only had one daily no. 1... so fortunate..
