Yep with B&D/Pride single though B&D/Pride single was released a month before the album and people knew about the album already so that's the main reason ^_^
and after that her next single sold higher and then the next sold higher again!

i too was expecting more...

i think all those tabloids and news and everything has caused people's impression of Ayu to change...so it could have contributed to the decreasing sales as well...
i just hope Ayu continue strong and dun care about the lesser sales...

I don't know what you're all talking about, jsut because it doesn't sell 200,000 doesn't mean 100,000 is bad x_x.
and maybe in full legal dwonloads it sold 70,000 and on mu-mo another 30,000 or more that it already reached 200,000 in total? Though more than 100,000 is not bad itself.

You're just highly exaggerating XD. talkin' 2 myself didn't sell low one bit.
Believe me, ayu and avex gained their profit from that single, that is for sure.
Maybe not hundred thousands but a lot of thousands ^_^.

Lets think about how much money Ayu and Avex made shall we?
So sales are 100k
Lets say 50k are cd+dvd and the other 50k are just CD ver
50k x 19.25 = $962500 USD or 110,292,875.00 JPY
50k x 11.25 = $562500 USd or 64,456,875.00 JPY

Thats $1,525,000 USD or 174,749,750 JPY That's not a small ammt of money right there folks

RIAJ would have already added in the mu-mo totals though.

I think using the avex Japanese prices (1050/1890) would be more accurate than using US$. From that, avex would have to subtract the cost of 2 PVs, production of the single (cost of recording, mixing, distributing, making the CD, composers, covers etc.), promotion of the single and giving some to the stores - which I think in the end profit ~US$500k or less.

The cost to make a CD is just a few cents, the covers are relatively simple in their design and photography, decisions PV i doubt cost much, recording.. probably didn't cost much either.. still.. I think it'd be a little more than US$500k maybe not a lot more..
but then you need to go and figure in all the legal downloads from ringtones, and from single downloads, which I hadn't done..

but still, making 500K isn't that bad at all

Well no, if you think about it, who's going to put the cover onto the CD, insert the CD/DVD, lyrics into the case etc. etc. It's probably not going to be as cheap as anywhere else in the world since most things in Japan just cost a lot. How about the cost of going to Los Angeles to record the song? There's also got to be some split between avex and the stores (i.e. stores receive X yen per copy they sell) When max was talking about the budget of 'fairyland' PV, I think he wrote something like normal PVs cost like ~30 million yen? True, digital downloads haven't been included but ringtones cost around 1/10 of a physical CD and a song costs around 1/3 of a physical CD...
