people always comparing her with ayu. HOW THE HECK CAN ANYONE EVEN DARE COMPARE THEM?! look at the difference! in music, style, everything! id rather see ayu overexposing herself in commercials where she has clothes on, than this.

Hmm hmm.... well, sorry Jerms, I agree with Ashley. I'm not a fan of Norah Jones but Britney is a thousand steps behind someone like her.
Britney Spears is fake. I will repeat: she is fake. She portrays herself, in her songs and her music videos, as a sex obsessed, superficial person. Every single she's ever produced has been about some cliched romantic or sexual subject. Consequently, her videos follow the same tired formula to grab attention. In "Baby One More Time" she portrayed a not-so-innocent catholic schoolgirl bursting at the seams with sexual frustration (SUCH a stereotype). All she can do to appease her urges is demonstrate a Lolita complex by oxymoronically wearing little girl pigtails with too much lipstick and by shaking her chest. "oops I did it again" had her laying on a flower with her legs splayed as the camera obsessively zoomed in on her sweaty, parted lips. Oh, and her red bodysuit was as ugly as all hell btw. "Stronger" had that inafamous chair dancing bit where she might as well have been in a strip club....the camera did an awful shot of her pelvis thrusting at the chair. "Don't Let me be The Last To Know" or whatever it was called was basically her having a sexual romp with a guy on an island, nuff said. "Not A Girl, Not Yet a Woman" was more Lolita complex madness, and that video had her wearing pants that went so low you could see her pelvic bones, I could not believe how low her pants were. "I'm a Slave 4 U" requires no explanation....it had everything, even simulated sex as she convulsed, panting for air, in a group of men. Hey, at least Norah Jones doesn't pant in her songs. "Boys" had her force herself on Austin Powers while she whispered "get nasty" in the background. I mean come on, do I need to go further? Who cares if she wrote her third album, what kind of lyrical integrity does she have? And if I hear her rhyme "baby" with "crazy" one more time, I am going to scream. Getting back to the fake part.....all these cheap sexual tricks to gain attention would be less of an issue if she didn't pretend she was a different person. She says who she portrays in her videos is not really her. She just wears costumes and plays parts. She says she's not a tramp and has a great character. In all these interviews, she tries to show the REAL BRitney Spears. Well sorry Brit, but the world sees you the way you publicly portray yourself in your videos and music. I don't care if she is a nun who fasts every day and saves puppies from streets. That's not who she chooses to show herself as. She wants her image to be sexual to the point of skanky. She says she has so much control over her career, so obviously she LIKES the way she is portrayed and continues with this debauched image. You know what? Maybe Avril Lavigne is a "phony" and Norah Jones "can't sing" but at least they have the courage and self-confidence to portray themselves as who they really are and not hide behind some publicity inhaling image. At least they don't shed their clothing to get a rise from people, then say "that's not the real me, stop judging me!". At least they are real. Britney is as fake as those ubiquitous breasts of her. She's got a great body, no doubt, and she sure does sell records. But she is no artist. I mean, even Christina Aguillera, who is usually considered just as "dirty" as Britney, at least made ONE video where she honestly sang about beauty and its many different incarnations, whether it be homosexual, skinny, chubby, old, young, whatever, and kept her clothes on so you could take her seriously. All right that's enough of these shananigans.

I don't know them very well...but all I think is that music being an art shouldn't mix with sex. Why should it be? It's so stupid. According to this trend then all movies will be rated 18+ because sex sells and they need nudity/sex scenes to become blockbuster movies...or all actresses must bare all to promote their movies.
To put it harshly, music with sex is like a porn movie, both are art, but with sex they are no longer art.

If Britney acquired "shankles" (when you're so overweight that your shin and ankle become one), suddenly lost all decent body coordination and still sounded the way she did today, we wouldn't know who she was. Some of you say "don't even compare Ayu to Britney!" Why not? Sure, Ayu may not be hurling panties into the audience, but she isn't High Priestess Ayu. She's done some risque stuff too. She just doesn't go as overboard as Britney because she knows that could hurt her sales. Trust me, if tomorrow Japanese consumers forgot what morlas are, Ayu would probably be one of the first to take advantage. She's an astute businesswoman. We should know that by now.

yo ash. i dont care if YOU dont like britney. but i just dotn get why u can sit there adn be like "man. she has no talent." her first video was the biggest hit in the country. that video certainly wasnt the sexiest one iv'e seen. her music IS pop. she practically brought BACK pop (aside from hanson and spice chicks) and it worked out FINE for her. and no integrity? shoot. if i lookd HALFWAY as decent as her i'd like to show everyone how nice i look too! its not like she's doing PORN because she doesnt have a shirt on in a magazine. has anyone seeen the maxim shoot of christina aguilera? your so CRITICAL to people as famous as britney spears. every little thing celebrities do you take and analyze every little bit. true, ayu just might have better lyrics. so what? she has talent too. but britney have NO talent? if your next door neighbor decided to write an album as "superficial" as britney did (which wasnt even superficial to me) you wouldnt sit tehre and say "you have no talent". because its still something when you write your own songs. about norah jones? so she won grammies. dont old people judge those things?! what 40 year old guy would pick britney over norah?! and i dont hav a clue what your talking about when you say britney's voice sounds different live. sounds the same to me, and yes, i'm talking about non-lipsyncing. and when we're not suppose to compare britney to ayu, why are we comparing her to britney? i just realized that. their COMPLETELy different too. if britney sang "dont know why" it'd sound nicer because I LIKE BRITNEY'S VOICE. that doesnt mean you have to. and so christina aguilera makes "beautiful" which shows that everyone is "beautiful"..so? she was naked 20 times in photo shoots more then britney..EVER!so why is everyone making such a big deal about britney but non christina? who personally proclaimed britney as the 10-year-old icon? madonna sure wasnt as innocent as britney's suppose to be when she started her career. and i can tell you right now, madonna has PLENTY integrity. and why is everyone making such a big deal about madonna and britney's kiss? nobody said a thing abuot christina's turn.
... i admit, britney is to an extend overrated. but "no talent" is WAYY under-rating her. she's probably just as busy as ayumi. and gets everything done. sure i shouldnt be comparing them to eachother because their two completely different people in different countries, but the bottom line that everyone seems to notice is that their both famous. all those articals by people that dislike ayumi and writing BS rumours etc on her? your doing the SAME THING to britney spears. *dares someone to oppose jerms*

For someone who doesn't care what I think, you sure are getting defensive.
Christina has a voice. Her being sexual isn't something that she puts on for videos. She has said that's who she is. She has written some songs that are deeper than the standard pop crap. I'm not a fan of her, but I can at least respect her as an artist for all of that. Britney on the other hand has said "that's not me in the video, that's not who I am", which is just using sex to sell herself. Thanks, but I'm actually not critical of celebrities, don't presume to know that about me. I don't spend my life picking apart celebrities, they're people. I just happen to have a problem with someone who makes records by pretending to be someone even SHE says that she isn't. It's not like I talk about Britney all the time, but see this topic triggered this. Also, I'm obviously not the only one who thinks this so don't single me out. BTW - I did say she had talent. I never said "no talent". I actually remember saying she had as much talent as a stripper. Meaning she can take off her clothes and dance. To quote Ayu: "I like Britney Spears, she's fun to watch. But I have the sense she's not her own creation." (not saying I like Britney, but I thought this quote was appropriate) Oh, and BTW I A) didn't compare Britney to Ayu and B) Am not spreading rumors!! I'm stating an OPINION learn the difference. Saying that Britney has aids and is a lesbian, THAT'S a rumor. Saying "I don't like Britney" that's an OPINION. Ashley

This seems to have turned into a thread about the flaws of Britney, but regardless, it shouldn't be a debate between jerms and Ash.... do remember that nearly everyone who's replied to this thread notices something wrong with Britney, not just Ashley.
With Britney, you know that she isn't "real". She may be "cute", but that's about it that makes her stand out from most artists. Go find a random girl with nice looks and give her a mic, and watch as she's "transformed" into a pop icon overnight, regardless of her vocal talent. In our modern society, anyone with a few sound altering devices can turn a person into the next pop diva in a matter of seconds. Now... I'm not saying Britney has no talent (as pointed out by Ash's reply...lol), but surely, how well do you think she'd be without her implants, "perfect" body, and a sound studio? Not very far...

o.o that unnatural skin color is forever burned in my mind. She may be 21 but, god, she reminds me of a child. I watched a CNN interview with her a week ago and she was chewing her gum and acting all hyper and bouncy, squealing out answers. I don't think there's anything special about Britney. And for some reason sex sells... if she wants to be sexy, can't she be a little more classy about it? -.- Ayu is sexy in a very classy way IMO
