Will you people drop the Rihanna subject? Please?
I really like her music, and her persona, but compare her to divas like Madonna, Ayu and Kylie is just insane.

People said Britney was the next Madonna... hm, I don't think so. And let's face it, Britney had a much more solid career. I think we're still due to another diva.

That is pretty cool now that you mention it. I never even realized that. Ayu kicks Madge and Kylie's asses though

And Rihanna as the next? Please, don't make me laugh.

^ But Rihanna's hot! But yeah, she'll disappear in 5-10 years. :|

^ 5 to 10 years? Give it three, at most. She's not Britney to last 10 years.

I'm not sure about Kylie, but Madonna is definitely a musical queen. Even if you don't like her, you gotta admit that she is. She has huge sales. She has been around for decades. Her releases are among the most anticipated ones... just look at her upcoming album. It's a frenzy. She's copied (even by Ayu, but I won't be getting into that)...

If Madonna isn't the queen, then well, we've got no queen at all.

^ I agree with the Kylie/Madonna statement. Madonna is a pop icon to me, not a music icon. There's nothing special about her music, and her (lack of) talent. But I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Much like Britney, she'll be remembered for her persona, not for her music. And, hey, she's more famous than any of us will ever be, so who cares.

Really? A lot of you don't see Kylie as a Queen? I mean she hasn't sold well in the US but in the UK and Australia, she's really popular. I think the definition of like a queen of music is someone who can change their music style and image to keep people guessing, to keep them wanting more and to keep them buying. That's what Kylie, Madonna and Ayu do. I mean Kylie just got over breast cancer about a year ago and she's already spit out an album that's been really successful and is creating a tour where in the UK tickets for eight shows sold out in only 30 minutes. There's no doubt she's a queen.

That's the thing. There can be only 1 Queen of 1 thing. Ayu is Queen of J-Pop (For arguments sake ), Madonna is Queen of Pop.
Plus, X got very mixed reviews and only got Number 1 in Australia. The sales are rather average. She doesn't have the ingenuity to be Queen Of Pop.

Excuse me, 2 Hearts was ****, everyone was expecting sluggish sales with that lead single... She still has alot more singles to go. It will easily climb up when she releases a good song.

She's also sold over 100 000 000 albums/singles without American fame so whatever... I call her the Queen of Euro-Pop.

Cher was still big in the 90's.

Oh crap I forgot to put "today" at the end of my sentence, but i'm sure she would still sell well if she released something. Ok so 3 artists managed to stay popular into the new millenium. Cher is quite remarkable really, she's been around since the 60's... How come no one ever calls Cher the Queen of pop?
