For more pop oriented music you can try out the "No Angels". They are a girl grop who sing in English and were heavily successful a few years ago.

Hmm, nobody has mentioned Nena so far. You all know her "99 Luftballons" song, but she has actually done many other great songs. Listen to "Liebe ist" which was a No. 1 hit in 2005 (so she is not a one-hit-wonder here ).
