Did you restart after installing? It shouldn't freeze like that unless your CPU usage is extremely high. =| My boyfriend's laptop can't handle USBs over 1gig plugged into the side port because of power issues. They have to be plugged into the back of the laptop to work (which is strange, but his lappy is really old).

I googled this, hope it works because I'm no technical expert!

Run the device manager.

Under "Disk Drives" there should be your USB drives.
Also under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" there should be a list of several USB-type drives.

Uninstall everyone of them and then shutdown and reboot your system. Your PC will "re-find" them and they should work.
