Most of those who archieve a legendary status have tight control over their own image and music, are said to be amazing live (well, fans always find everything amazing live) and release stuff that can be really hated by most of their following... Madonna, Beyonce, Bjork, Lady Gaga, Ayumi, Tori, Mylene Farmer, Emilie Simon, Barbra, Cher, Marisa Monte, Hikaru Utada, Ivete Sangalo, etc...
