Music wise:
Beyonce Knowles: She has to have the most overwought, repetitive, uninspiring and overall ANNOYING discography on the face of this planet. Every time I hear Single Ladies I want to stab my ears out. I don't get why people haven't realized yet that she's been releasing the same lead single over and over again off of each album. Kanye West: Besides the fact that he's a douchebag, I can't fathom what's the big deal over his music. It's nothing special or out of the ordinary. Coldplay: Dull, dull, dull. Not a song I've heard by them hasn't made me near comatose by the end. 2NE1: I don't get the current obsession over these girls. They have like one song I can think of that doesn't get extremely annoying after the first listen. They're talented but their music is just ugh. DBSK, ARASHI, SUPER JUNIORS, most Asian boybands in general: It's even worse than the boyband craze that used to infest the West  even sadder is the fact some Western fangirls actually believe there's this huge "difference" between them. I just don't get it.  Talent wise: Christina Aguilera: Her voice has never sound even remotely good to me. When ever she opens her mouth, all I hear is gurgling and screaming not these "amazing vocals" everyone keeps fawning over. At least her sales these days do tend to reflect on her recycled and mediocre music. Utada Hikaru: Hikki's great and all and has a really pretty voice... but in all honestly, I've heard better Asian singers. Her vocal technique isn't very good and her live vocals tend to be off.

While I feel there are many overrated singers in the Asian and Western music scene. I only have one thing to say right now:
KE$HA I agree with what he says, if anyone wants reasoning (in spoiler for inappropriate language): Spoiler:
The only thing I don't agree with that he says is when he mentions how she has a few good songs. No.

@amorphose: LOL! i love this guy. i am laughing so hard. i think a few of her songs are decent. overrated however. (LOL @ "did i just see Kevin Jonas in a Viagra commercial")
Tohoshinki. BIG BANG. and pretty much any boy band also 2NE1. SNSD. 4minute. Hyori Lee. and many korean girl groups/solo artists when i finally gave them a really good listen thanks to very helpful people here i just really didnt see what was so special. they kinda disturb me. like they try to hard to be "cool". i noticed that at first with 2NE1 with the irritating announcing 2NE1 in their songs. . .i wont seriously bash them. i just need more in depth stuff .but clearly many people. all they need is simple stuff like that (simple to me). YUI. .. Ikimono-gakari. . .lovely. like a few songs from Ikimono actually but theyre not that amazing. Perfume. . .ill like a song if i can feel the meaning to it and its good. its hard to hear emotion from them so if theres none the song has too absolutely superb. Kumi Koda: amazing, no? i actually like her a LOT. some amazing songs. but overrated. too much. but i guess her type appeals to people Nami Tamaki, Angela Aki, Crystal Kay, Kana Nishino , ICONIQ: overrated overrated overrated. . .(but i like a few songs from each. or a couple songs XD) Katy Perry, Ke$ha, most male r&b artists (except Chris Brown XD), TI, Eminem and i could go on. . . Morning Musume, Maki Goto, AKB48, Arashi, Dreams Come True, Exile, Yuna Ito, melody., Rina Aiuchi, NEWS, Anna Tsuchiya, Uverworld, . . .im tired of going. . . mmm. . .i cant really say any jrock bands are overrated. many are underrated imo. To be honest, the problem I often have with threads are people calling an artist "overrated" for some of the most personal and sometimes ... not relevant reasons.
I'm not aiming directly at you StrawbariSnowAyumi, but you just happened to be the poster directly above me so I'm going to take this as an example XD "Perfume. . .ill like a song if i can feel the meaning to it and its good. its hard to hear emotion from them so if theres none the song has too absolutely superb. " But the point of the group isn't to convey emotions. It's to make catchy dance tunes. Your complaint would work if they'd even try to make emotional songs and if everyone was raving about how emotional their songs are, but they're not and no one is. They make dance tunes, people like them for that. If you'd think their dance tunes were crappy, that'd be a whole different story ... Or maybe I'm just making no sense at all!

Lady Gaga: Being tacky and weird does not automatically equal you being super-duper original. This being said, not everything she's done is crappy and weird. She has her moments. But overrated; hell yeah.
Ke$ha: She's a joke to me. I just can't see what's so damn great about her. She looks...almost filthy. I do not like the way she "sings. Her songs are pure ear-rape to me. *sighs*

I really, really, REALLY hate the terms overrated and underrated. Most people will say someone is overrated when they just suck and no one even rates them highly. So I think some people just call people they hate overrated.
But, I'll go with Beyonce. Yeah, she can sing, but she gets so much damn praise it's ridiculous. She's not an amazing vocalist, her songs aren't catchy, and she's not a great lyricist. She was better in that group Destiny's Child.

I mean, her songs are okay and there are a couple I really love but most of her music is just mediocre. It sounds like generic 2nd-rate western music and her voice isn't as good as everyone says it is. She doesn't have much range and overuses falsetto

The Beatless (I still don't get why people like their music so much), Ke$ha (She's a joke), Justin Bieber (Don't get me started...), The Jonas Brothers (Same as JB), Utada Hikaru (I like her music but it isn't THAT good), Lady Gaga (I love her and she's a good entertainer and singer, but she's overrated).

Lady GaGa - Proof that being outrageous can get you famous but I think she knows that perfectly well so I guess she is smart in a way...
Ke$ha - Speaks for itself. Drake - At first I thought it was pretty cool that the biggest rapper at the moment was Canadian but then when I listened to his new album I changed my mind. Overall, his "rapping" sounds almost as lazy as the beats and the lyrics are very poorly executed.
