i love them all especially march-april and the one with the huge dress. I must say the outfits are very nice first and the giantic dress however her lips on the first one xD

I prefer the old one, because it's more natural (I especially love the one in the fur coat). What strikes me the most is that although Ayu hasn't changed drastically over the years, the difference in her face is not the age, but the make up, which is so obvious that it tells you its purpose for being there is to make her look younger.

It doesn't.

It makes her look like someone who's trying to look young, which I believe she would if she wore less. I like to see people age, as it gives them more character. I also believe it's possible to look a lot younger than you are--my mother is the living proof of that. But I don't like it when people do all sorts of things to look younger and get the opposite effect, and for that reason, appear desperate.

From an aesthetic point of view--she's pretty. But she lacks character, especially when you compare these two calendars.

I agree with this 100% just because in the 2003 calendar, you can tell she used to be such an effortless icon, while now it's pretty obvious that she's trying really hard to keep that kind of image.

@kazeyomi and truehappiness: Personally, I'd say the natural thing comes from the fact that she isn't trying nearly as hard in the 2003 one. Yeah, there's a ton of makeup, but it's still don't pretty effortlessly and naturally... She doesn't at all look like she's trying hard to look good, and more importantly, her poses are really natural and unforced, as if she's not really even trying to pose. In the 2012 one, she is posing to the extreme and obviously trying really hard to look younger than she is, which makes her look older. @_@

I was expecting the new calendar to be a tribute to the calendar from 2003, but I like the latter one much better!

I don't know why, but I just can't get into Ayu's calendar shootings anymore. The last one I really loved was the calendar from 2006.

The 2003 calendar was definitely a lot better, but I like the March/April and July/August a lot more in this one. Actually, I really like the July/August one, it's adorable. The November/December one is very... lol. I hope it looks better in HQ.

I think I'm the only one who doesn't like the January/February picture. That wig is really unflattering and she looks super old in that pic. Also I'm not impressed with the May/June picture because... that's her go to pose for wearing huge dresses, and she's done it much better before with much less questionable hair.

march april and sept oct were shot in the same day and is so weird I remember it took her only like an hour.



I don't think you can compare 03 and 12 at all except for the cover.
Same concept but totally different. No use in comparing them.

^ really? I'd say she's asking for it here, she's used the same settings and even gone for the same sort of styling in most of them - e.g. big dress, edgy at the statue, elegant for winter, colourful at a ferris wheel...

It's the same idea, all that's changed is her hair and clothes, most of theme is the same.

Unsure if I like the calander or not, my main problem is it looks so much like Ayu has been copied and pasted onto the setting... and I second the questionable hair comment. The ferris wheel one is super cute though ♥

The 2003 one of her in the fur coat, omg. She looks flawless in jeans.
