the most obvious clip that would be upscaled is BALLAD. i wonder if it will look horrible because it was in dvd.

Why is it obvious that it would be upscaled?

^^ Agreed! BALLAD has very bad picture quality compared to other widescreen PVs.

The upscaled thing is another issue I'm glad I cancelled it lol.
Thanks god CDJapan had to change the shipping price and ask us for an e-mail (and instead of confirmation I sent cancelation) or it would be too late.

The box looks awesome, but the blu-ray version doesn't worth for me if it's not all in HD...
I have nothing to do with the bag too as I'm not a girl. I also have all of ayu's pvs in their respective albums DVDs (also compilations and first CC Box).

^Same as me, I'll download the entire thing and then will decide if it is worth to spend that much money or not on such an item.

So it probably gets upscaled huh? I know that there was this self proclaimed user in here who was ABSOLUTELY certain that the PV's wouldn't be upscaled, I almost bought this because of him lol. Sigh.

I hope you guys get what you paid for though.

Omg only Avex would have the nerve to charge $300 for some upscaled DVD footage of what really are just 4 minute commercials, unbelievable.

WTH people, where did you see or read that it isn't HD? The resolution is 1920x1080 so it is in HD maybe some stuff, might or not be upscaled, but it is HD, clam down and wait for poker face and by that we can tell if it is good HD material or not, I'm pretty sure even the DVD got remastered, so just be patient.

Lmao, thank you! I think everyone is just guessing and then causes everyone to freak out. I will wait until I see evidence or receive my own.

FIVE's PVs are probably guaranteed to be in HD. [though ANother song was an upscale apparently]

I'll look for anyone who took photos/screencaps.

^ Agreed

A large amount of people here thinks that releasing videos in HD means pressing the button "render in HD please".

People need to get in their heads that this isn't Avatar being released on Blu-ray, it's a 13 year old (the oldest clip at least) compilation of videos, some will probably look good, some of them won't. Not every movie released, even the newer ones look amazingly good in Blu-ray, you have to consider the age, the way it was shot, the way the prints are kept, and then the way it encoded or remastered. Videoclips are never going to be all polished and shine like a mega hollywood production. Just keeping that in mind will save you lots of tears as I can see so many people thinking that this is going to be the ultimate way to watch ayumi in all glorious HD, if that is indeed the case, look elsewere, like the more recent concerts, as it was already stated those where shot in Digital HD. Until there is a source, screen cap or video itself of what we are going to get, stay calm, or you will get some weird heart disease. XD

THIS THIS THIS, i don't get why people think her old PVs are going to magically become super HD.

since when do people worry about if it's unscaled (whatever that is)
This is actually the first time I seen it.

Are people worried about it and wanted it to be the best hd because how expensive this thing is?

It's pretty legit to expect a high quality product, but as some other people said earlier, in Japan everything is much more expansive than anywhere else.
The price of DVD-boxsets is around 20,000yen or more, and IT IS NORMAL FOR THEM TO PAY THAT PRICE.

^ XD Upscaled just means that it was used an image let's say 720p tu match 1080i (which since this was what was used in FIVE Blu-ray will be used for this one too). Meaning it isn't a true HD image, it's just rendered to look like it, anyway to the naked eye it's hard to tell the difference between 720p and 1080i so I wouldn't be too worried.
I think this is a release for hard-core fans (and rich fans alike) to indulge in this because picture and sound wise it will be no doubt about it better then the regular DVD release. People should stop worrying about it.

That's not what upscaling is technically.

It's basically standard definition content on a Blu-Ray.
It will still look better than a DVD being upscaled by a Blu-Ray player but not by much. You can't make something HD if it was not HD in the first place, so unless Avex really put a lot of effort into the Blu-Rays there may be lots of issues that crop up in the picture quality.

The issue I think a lot of people have is that if you're buying Blu-Ray, the main draw is amazing picture quality. If all you're getting is an upscale video, then you're not getting a true high definition experience.

If you look around at the issues with anime that's upscaled to Blu-Ray, a lot of issues are caused with this technique there as well. Pictures look too soft, and even sometimes end up looking worse than the DVD's.

Obviously, until we see something it's all speculation, but one would hope if a lot of the older PV's were recorded on film rather than digitally, they can be properly mastered in HD, while a lot of stuff in the early 00's would be difficult/impossible to get a native HD picture out of it.

It's why a lot of shows like X-Files and the like don't have Blu-Ray releases, the special effects would all be standard definition, and a lot of money/work would have to be involved to actually make the picture look any better than the DVD does.

I'm not completely savvy on the method of creating HD releases (so I may be wrong in parts), but from what I've discovered the last few years this is the problems with having an upscale.
