her not being married in Japan is just a technicality to me :/
but I do find it odd she never submitted the papers there. I can only imagine what everyone is thinking.

Yes, but it could be her japanese citizenship and still being single in Japan sped things up. The whole thing sounds like my friends in Japan were right when they tried to tell last year that it was a publicity stunt. A poorly planned one if the press keeps doing like they are now and destroys her career for a divorce like they have to other japanese celebrities who were actually married in Japan.

So, technically, Ayu could go on living in Japan and pretend nothing happened if she didn't bother filing for divorce in the US. It would just suck for Mannie really hard, lol
@SummonerXI: omg you spelled my username correctly. Most write it as Love_Shine, and I'm like "wtf there is no underscore!!!!". I'm so happy :'( EDIT: @saigodansu: Ayu has never relied on such elaborate publicity stunts in the past. Why start for an album that was released long after her peak? I could accept it if her sales were just starting to decline, but it makes zero sense now.

why would it speed anything up?
But if she intended to be married, she'd be married, and she'd have taken care of everything. Which does make it fishy, and I expect the media to drag it out.

This whole marriage legality stuff was really interesting to me, and if Mannie is a US citizen and had intended to marry Ayu, it's my understanding he would need to file for something called a "fiance visa" that would allow Ayu and him to get married in the US.
...Thing is, I read it takes 3-4 months to get one of those visas. I wonder when it was exactly that Ayu and Mannie got engaged, and just how rushed the whole situation was... I also read this: "If the marriage [in the US] is between two non-US citizens, the marriage must be officially recognized in the home country in order for it to be valid. Foreigners (non-U.S. citizens) that get married to each other in the United States do not obtain a Green Card, U.S. citizenship, or any kind of immigration status or benefit." |

Yeah, this new bit of info really makes it look like Ayu was never really commited to the idea.

But that only applies if she wanted to become a citizen of the untied states....
She wouldn't need to get any visas if they were just planning on getting married. |

Oh and about her pre-nup, considering Ayu is taking responsibility for this, I'm sure she will voluntarily give Mannie some sort of monetary support. For all we know, he's still in love with her. This isn't a divorce out of bitterness.

I don't think he has US citizenship though, I think he's on a work visa. His video from when he was new to hollywood filmed for Austrian news does not look that old.

Please explain this method of obtaining the correct typesetting of my username to the other members. Some have not figured it out... Also, so you said that Mannie is Austrian born, making him an immigrant, but he must have US citizenship, being a working model. Does this mean he must still file for this fiance visa? And I would assume Ayu intended to get US citizenship, in order to live there with her husband, otherwise it might have made living hard, and she would have to leave the country within a few months to not break any laws.

Oh wow, I forgot about the pre-nup stuff! I suppose she would have made him sign one though since she hadn't known him that long. I hope everything is alright with her.

I don't really know, I just think it would have been needless for Ayu to file for divorce if neither of them were US citizens and neither of the registered their marriage in their home countries. But because Ayu filed in the US and not in Austria, it just makes me assume he had citizenship.
