At the end of the day, to him, Ayu is not a Japanese superstar, she's a woman a friend of his married, and he will know ten times more than we ever will about their relationship. He has more right than any of us to comment on it, especially as somebody he considers a good friend is getting **** from some butt hurt fans. I'd be pretty annoyed if I were him too, and these fans were speculating about the life of a friend.

Could he have sad it better? Of course! Would I probably have done something similar when I see people who know NOTHING giving my friend crap? Uhhh, yes!
Agree 100%!

We don't personally know Ayu but from the way she talks about popularity, I doubt she will seek friendship from other celebrities. On the other hand she probably has this sense of entitlement, but again I doubt she will go out of her way to be treated differently because she's a superstar. However, Ayu is a diva and she has never pretended otherwise. It's quite difficult to differentiate one from the other but they are different.

Though I still think his friend's post is funny. Lol

All I will say on the matter is that she has been to LA and New York( and other parts of the world where she isn't famous) again and again since the beginning of her career. Why would she not like how she was treated there all of a sudden?

Sure she would actually be LIVING in America, but gurl is rich enough to get whatever she wants haha. We are getting one side of the story from a provoked friend. And I believe Ayu whole-heartedly when she says her return to Japan was affected by the events of March 11th. Power of Music had too much integrity to just be a lie. Was it the only reason for the divorce? Probably not. But I believe that it played a huge role. This is a common problem with artists who date other artists. Schedules, needing to be in other parts of the world. One that comes to mind is Rebecca Romijn and John Stamos. Rebecca wanted to further her Hollywood career while John wanted to further his Broadway career.

I agree with this post 100%. To the point of Ayu possibly trying to get into American celebrity social circles, I could see that happening, she did to the Grammy after-party, didn't she. I remember her tweeting about Beyonce at the time.

In my opinion, Mannie's friend knows more about Ayu than any of us fans do. He probably knows the real reason behind the divorce. I'm not saying that the earthquake wasn't a part of it, I trust that Ayu wouldn't flat out lie to fans, but I do believe there was more. Honestly, Ayu is human too, she isn't always 100% perfect. She probably gets cranky and demanding too, sometimes.

Ayu may have touched our hearts with her music, but that doesn't change the fact that we don't know the real her, as none of us have spent true, quality time with her.

As others said before, Ayu only shows to us what she wants us to see from her, so it's quite difficult to know "her" (real) truth. Also, she would be nothing without Ayumi Hamasaki, her masterpiece. She's rich and famous, and she loves her status, being admired and even her need to have bodyguards. She is made for the stage, for the fans, for 'evolution' and 'Boys & Girls'. That's why she never will stop singing; because if she isn't Ayumi Hamasaki anymore, she would be nothing. For that reason, it's possible that we may have never seen the real ayu til now. Who knows! Only her.

It's because of this fact that I think that it's true that she were crying in her hotel room and all that. I actually can imagine her depressed and sad, hidden in her own world. (It's very ayu-ish, can't negate it! xD)

Also, Mannie is the only person in this story who knows more from her. He wasn't an ayu fan before, so he were free to this love that we have for her.. I mean, to him, she were only a pretty girl, a singer in her country, yeah.. but a "nobody" in LA. A normal (and glamurous) girl. I think that this fact it's really important at time to give him and his version some credibility and support.

As for his friend.. well, he's defending Mannie, and by reading his post, I can see that Mannie doesn't want him to say such things. But maybe that post is the text that better talks about the real Ayu, by far. Perhaps it's exagerated, but even so.. I can't do nothing but believe it.

I really like your post, you pretty much wrote what i wanted to say.

She said she misses being able to go out into the world and walk around like a real person, like going to Shibuya 109 or shopping market. I honestly don't think she's that naive to think that she would be treated like Angelina Jolie or Megan Fox around LA, because she's been there loads of times before. She KNEW how she would be treated. It wouldn't come as a surprise, so that comment is sooo negated by the sheer fact of common sense. Ayumi would have to be a damn idiot to think the way that guy was saying she thought. Some how, I can't imagine her going to LA or New York, and every time spending all of her time in the hotel room crying. LMAO what a joke.

By the way Ayumi conducts herself in business and behind the scenes, I honestly find it hard to believe that she is who that idiot portrays her to be. In interviews or behind the scenes videos, she's always very professional, calm, and reserved. She plans things out, takes control, and seems like a true business woman. And we all know she's a horrible actress, so I don't think that's all an act.

Judging by the routines at Hotel Love Songs, and the content of the scenes, it does look like a portrayal that Manny cheated on her. I wouldn't be surprised anyways, because they were apart for so long, and it seems like only one of them in the relationship was too busy to have a life... LOL. And since she says everything she portrays comes from a true story or a true happening...

Yeah, I pretty much hate Manny. He's an idiot and insensitive. You don't go posting that stupid stuff on your Facebook right after your divorce, no matter how angry or upset or jealous you are. It's bad form, and it's a sign of a child. He's no gentleman, and he has no manners. The tour scenes for Ayu are artistic, and portrays what the song needs to portray. That MEME he posted on his facebook is stupid and childish, and there is NO WAY anyone could mistake that for anything but a sad attempt at pinning blame where blame shouldn't be placed. If he could, I bet he'd probably sell all the information about their lives together to the Japanese media if he could. Like, come on, he's a model who married a superstar who in turn got to have a book produced by one of the most famous photographers in the world.

Yeah, he wasn't using her at all.

Relax sweetheart.

I'm sorry hon but with all due respect you have no idea why he made that comment. actually, he didn't even write it. Tons of people here have said we don't know the reasons behind the break up, and i'm sorry also to take ayu off your altar but she's human too, and that's the grace of publicity. Go with any publicist he/she will say all artists always will show a polished, perfect version of ther actual persona, that's what artists do, and i do believe ayu is no exception. And as far as we know she broke up with him. I've been thru that (someone i loved broke up with me) and it hurts like shi-t. Yes, it wasn't the smartest comment ever, but be certain that he wouldn't make such comments if he didn't feel love for ayu.

Honestly, i don't think the post the friend made is fake. This describes quite accurately how a superstar acts. Money and fame should give you freedom to choose, but unfortunately it ends up being the opposite because it makes you less and less capable to adapt yourself to situations like this one. You are used to go everywhere and get special treatment and lots of fools to tell you "amen" to everything you say, and then you move on and you have to be more flexible and accept things you don't like or wish to be different. that's what i meant when i said money and fame turn up against you. Certainly that should have been hard for her.

Point is we don't know what Ayu was like nor do we know Mannie. There are two sides to every story and everyone has their own biases.

All I will say is that Mannie is not perfect either. He has made quite a point to bash ayu to apeople he meets after the divorce, totally unprovoked. He has said some downright horrible things to people in person about Ayu and the divorce. In addition, if we are talking about the fame game, who said mannie didn't have any alternative motives if you know what I mean? He lost all integrity in my book after hearing of these experiences.

And don't you remember the CNN interview where she said sometimes she wishes she could be alone and walk around but she couldn't do that in japan" or how she consistently talks about just wanting to run away from the fame and "ayumi hamasaki" and just be human? Lie: " for me, im just a person, like everyone else, but for other people, im ayumi hamasaki, so no matter where i go, what im doing, people always think it's ayu"" Not to mention for someone who has no promotion outside of Asia, she still has PLENTY of fans come and meet her. I don't know, we shouldn't need to believe ayu is perfect, but that doesn't mean we should immediately believe the other side either.

Ayu has been famous for years now AND is an artist, so she is going to react to things differently.

NOW thats really all I have to say on the matter lol

When did all this happen? I can't exactly accpet that without some more background.

And I'm so over hearing about celebrities not wanting to be famous anymore. Not just Ayu, but Western celebrities too, who always "retire" and have "farewell tours" and then a year and a half later they realize they miss the attention and money and release more stuff.

Why does any of this matter in the first place???

Logically speaking, you can't "love" anyone enough to marry them and actually stay together after meeting on the set of a music video. I could see it if Ayu and Mannie actually dated for a few years after filming some of the videos from 'Love songs,' but they didn't. They barely even knew each other, so of course some of their behaviors might have come off as bizarre or even psychopathic after marriage. Their transition from attraction to marriage was too quick for them to even develop a real, mature understanding of one another. Therefore, all of this is all a bunch of immature foolishness. ALL of this. This thread, the constant bickering, the harassment of Ayumi and her ex-husband---ALL of this is ridiculous.

Furthermore, if he is calling Ayumi a psychopath then SO WHAT? He has a right to hold an opinion of her just like any other fan or non-fan has of Ayumi Hamasaki (the celebrity entertainer AND the person). Some people need to stop being so freaking insecure about their fan appreciation for Ayumi by not letting the words of others question her integrity as an artist and a human being all of the time. She is going on fourteen years of being in the music industry. FOURTEEN YEARS. If she was really a "psychopath" we would have real evidence from her actions, not from a measly facebook post that might not even be saying that she was a "psycho."

As for the defensive friend of Mannie, if he has to resort to using racial stereotypes to defend his argument, nothing he says should be thought of as relevant to understanding the situation at all. He is probably an associate looking to add more fuel to the fire more than anything else because he provides no evidence of how long he and Mannie have been friends, or even anything about Mannie's character.

The bottom line is, don't be so quick to believe the hype and if in doubt about everything, just listen to "Party Queen" and have a good day regardless. =)

Well this isn't gonna be swept under the rug for a looong time, if ever. I get the feeling the marriage was an infatuated act of passion, and then wore off.

To get married that quickly anyway was the one thing that made me think that it wouldn't last til the water got hot. Four girlfriends of mine got married really quickly like that and only one is still married. It's not enough time to get to know a person through and through.

Drama. sheesh.

ayus even wrote that how shocked she is when someone calls her name out in america as in reconising her in the past. And I think she wouldnt keep going to America if what mannies friend said was true. From how this is going. Ayus side has been nice and good about the devorce, while mannies sides been a real c%#t about it. I think they think since shes all the way in Japan they can say these things. Seems ayu is the only one who can act mature in this matter

And made an album, a video and a whole tour about it... And even if she never said anything bad about him, basing on reports, the male part is the bad part on all the performances during At12...

It's not like she is being totally sweet and fluffy

But didn't she do this before too? With Nagase, she seemed to be the victim. And once again this time around. I'm not saying she's playing victims or anything, it just seems she's reacting similarly to her break-up with Nagase 4-5 years ago.

I think they both have their own parts in this. It's hard not act and feel happy about any kind of break-ups I think. There was bound to be some "nasty" happening one way or the other.

I don't dislike Mannie, actually, I quite like him. I don't know why, maybe cause Ayu loved him at one point.

And as much as I love Ayu, I don't find it hard to believe she would be a spoiled brat. XD
