I always knew Tell me why isn't a Japanese song tbh. It has always sounded so European in my ears that it just made sense when it was revealed it was actually a cover. Why is this such a big issue anyway? Bold & Delicious, Ladies Night, In The Corner, Pride, Beautiful Day, rainy day and Memorial address are also covers.

I don't really think "cover" is the right word for it... She just paid someone for their composition, like she always did. European or Japanese, it's the same, and it really doesn't matter if someone sang on the same melody before, if I paid it's rightfully mine.
It's like saying Girls Generation stole Run Devil Run from Kesha just because she sang the demo firstXD

So many more than Run Devil Run
Also I Got a Boy, Dancing Queen, Mr. Taxi, Let it Rain etc...

Edit: point was, this is SUPER COMMON in the showbiz. And why shouldn't it be allowed? I mean, if there's a great tune out there that you'd love to write a song to, why not? Better to buy the rights to the instrumental than to make a song that sounds a lot like it. I think it shows respect to buy the song.

Memorial address is not a cover, since its composer is Tetsuya Yukumi..
she sings cover ( with her original lyrics) in her "My story", her songs were originally written for Sweetbox, if I remember well ^^

Anyway.. I like more the original version of "Tell me why" than ayumi's try

She sung TOKYO and Haru yo koi live in 2003. I know Haru yo koi is by Yumi Matsutoya, not sure about TOKYO though.

Tokyo was originally by Kuwata Keisuke (best known as the lead singer of Southern All-Stars).
