Her last album was 十念 thought in a decade. It was only released digitally on November 24th, 2017 and had 11 songs.
A very limited physical release has been released on a Chinese site at some point.

Her next (album) release is supposed to be a Tibetan album.

Song title comes from Buddhism. It's a collaboration with Chinese artist 方锦龙 Fang Jinlong.

Not dying... I'd say evolving. Money comes from endorsements, events, tours, TV appearances, etc, not really from album sales anyway...

Another "popular" thing is to release an album in 3 (or 4) parts digitally (so 3-4 EPs of 3 or 4 songs each). Singers Han Geng or Chris Lee for instance have done it in recent years. Han Geng was releasing one EP per month, and Chris Lee one every 2 months.
G.E.M will do it this year as well to celebrate her 10th anniversary by releasing 3 EPs. 1st one will be released at the end of the month.

Ugh, that sucks! I mean, the news (to me) about chinese singers releasing more singles than albums. Usually, when I try to get into new chinese or... any other act in the world, I listen to albums, not single songs. I hope alan one day, goes back to Japan.

Anyway, is there a hard answer about why she went back to China? At the time, I remember some people saying she missed her family, or something. Was that true? Did her contract with avex expired?

I highly doubt she will come back to Japan... She created her own label and can release the music she wants now in China. It would be much harder to do that in Japan.

An interview I found on alan-international forum, it was released at the time of Love song, her first Chinese album.

You were in Japan for 4 years, so why did you come back to develop your career in China instead?
First, it's because my contract was almost up. If I had to continue it, it would be for 3 years and above. I'm not that 19-year-old girl anymore. I'm already 20 something, so I especially missed home and my family. It's lonely being in a foreign land.

Being in Japan, what was the most difficult thing about it?
The language and then the loneliness.

Did you make friends over there? You look like you have a good relationship with your producer based on your Weibo.
Yes, I'm especially thankful to my producer and my Japanese team. I feel like our relationship is more than just work, but we're like friends instead. When I had to go to Taiwan for work, my Japanese manager and producer used their own money to buy a ticket to come see me. When I had a press conference for an album in Chengdu, my previous Japanese manager hid in my house's kitchen and she suddenly jumped out, so I was scared. It's far from Tokyo to Chengdu, so I was very grateful to them to come for me.

How has your life changed compared to when you were in Japan?
First, I can often see my parents because they are getting older. Second is that my lifestyle is more disciplined because when I was in Japan, I wouldn't have meals at the right time. Now, my mom makes a nourishing soup for me everyday.

From what I noticed, most of the time, most of these singles never end up in an album (especially the ones which are theme songs for dramas, movies, games, whatever).

龙女 Dragon Lady was a theme song -composed by Kazuhito Kikuchi- released a few months before thought in a decade. It ended up in the album but the version featured in it is a bit different than the single version.

心花 was a single released in 2016. 幻梦 was a single released in May 2017 (back then it was already introduced as a song from her upcoming album).

Finally, several singles have been released to promote the new album, such as 美人谷 Beauty Valley, the title song (this song got a re-release afterwards with a piano and an erhu version) for instance. If I remember well there were 3 or 4 promotional singles before the actual release of thought in a decade. They have all been deleted since then on Chinese sites, because they're in the album I guess.

About the songs released before the album, I guess they were meant to be just promo, and now that they're available for purchase, they decided to stop people from getting them easily.

So Hot is a fun song that I wouldn't believe that Alan would have released if someone had told me this some years ago.

alan recorded a song with Japanese DJ DJ FUMI★YEAH! in early October. It will be featured in his upcoming album, no release date at the moment.
