As for Ayu having a baby, my understanding is that in Japan it's "best" to have a baby before age 35-ish; past that, you might as well give up. I understand that in terms of fertility in biology, but it's not an impossibility, since you're definitely still able to have babies at that age. However, I have a feeling Ayu is just not interested in having a child, which is fine. The expectation of society on her and other women to have a child is just that - an expectation. What matters most is what she wants.

So maybe someday she'll have a child, maybe not. I don't think she will. But that's just me, and it doesn't matter either way.

I agree, actually. I get the vibe that Ayu doesn't want kids. To each their own, and I hope that everyone supports whatever decision she makes.
