LOVE again was actually really enjoyable and still is to me.
Sweet Scar, and Ivy are probably my favorite songs on the album.
But I love the others just as much. I only find myself rarely listening to Gloria or petal.

Colours is still great as well. Hello new me is cute and I listen to it from time to time, but I prefer the others songs.

There are always songs I listen to a lot and others I rarely listen to on her albums.

Colours is fun. Terminal alone is impeccable imo.

Colours is probably the only album I have a love/hate relationship with. One third of the songs are amazing, one third is good-forgettable and the rest is "why did she even record this?" (looking at Angel and Lelio) But I appreacite her efforts in these songs tho, they're different from her usual stuff and not cheaply produced

I don't think Colours is a masterpiece but I listened to it a lot when it first came out.

I like Colours but it's not my favorite album. I just listened to Terminal the other day for the first time in a long while and felt like it was missing something. It's a decent song but Ayu has better songs in her discography. Just my opinion or maybe I need to listen to Ayu more often.

Terminal is a really sub-par trance song... The epitome of overrated. I love trance and I'm embarrassed to play it for my trance friends.

The thing about Colours is that I listened to it straight through over and over again and loved it. All I know is that now I listen to three songs on it and ignore the rest. It just happened...

I love Lelio the most <3

You and I have very different outlooks on these things. To be fair, ayu trance 1 is the album that introduced me to trance, and I've rarely listened to trance outside of ayu. That being said, I think ayu trance 2, 3, and 4 are all really great and sound like genuine trance to me. Terminal also.

I know you think that ayu trance 4 is sub par, but I can't imagine why. I guess as someone who listens to much more trance than I do, you would know better.

I sometimes try to get into other trance, but the vocals sometimes turn me off. Or when the track is over six minutes. That's only acceptable for me if it's ayu. lol

Well, all of it is genuine trance, they all just reflect different sides of, and avenues within, the genre itself. 4 has less of a cohesive sound because the DJs who avex hired all specialize in various subgenres. Far away and SEASONS both have a much "deeper" sound to them - more refined, a bit more mature - as opposed to the harder sound of poker face, and the bouncy more "party-friendly" sound of vogue. It's all trance, but previous releases in the serious keep a similar groove throughout, where as 4 is more of a melting pot.

I used to have a similar feelings toward trance in the past; vocals were very hit or miss (still to this day, I am very picky about the vocalists but there are a ton who are continuously featured that I adore, and a few that I used to loathe but have since warmed up to - I enjoy the emotional, fragile sound of female trance vocalists), and always preferring the shorter "radio mix" versions of songs if they existed. Today, it's a completely different story. One of the greatest things about trance is that you can listen to the song being born, evolving over time, as new instruments and details are introduced to the ear. For me it really stems from having a high appreciation for attention to detail - small stutters, pauses, the gradual rise and fall of tension, etc. - and I enjoy listening to the songs as works of art, like paintings in a gallery - every layer of sound a new color, every accent a new brushstroke.

Additionally, I was familiar with and loved trance before Ayu, so the combination of them both was already a meeting of the two things I loved most in music.

I'm already in christmas mood and want to hear Winter Diary so badly!

I have You Were... until then.

The Ayu songs that makes me dream away are extra special. They're like magic.

Perfect song and video. Though HD for this video isn't very forgiving for the effects of the 2 Ayus wearing black.

The MOON PV was beautiful but I remember people being disappointed that the 'climax' of the PV was her getting covered in that black liquid goo. I can't believe it was released so long ago either. I keep feeling as though it was maybe 2 years ago but it is more like 5?!

Did anyone ever analyse that PV? Watching it back again, I feel there is a lot of symbolism I might be missing

I hated the whole to be continued crap they were doing at that time. It drove me insane. That single in particular was handled badly. First we were promised two videos, then I believe it was stated in ViVi? That there'd be two different jackets (kind of like you were... Ballad--though this could be untrue haha), which was scrapped, then the cover was released online before TA, then the video was shown but only until the first chorus. This was like the beginning of all her short versions, yes?

The "to be continued..." crap needs to stop. Her videos nowadays are so directionless and forgettable without dragging them out.
