I’ve always gotten the feeling that Ayu’s house is very gaudy.

Two things Ayu and I don’t see eye to eye on: shoes and interior

I mean...if we're being honest, a lot of her personal fashion and even things she wore to lives back in the day were not cute, even for early 2000s standards.

I find a lot of old ayu imagery charming in part because she seems so imperfect in a way.

Really she dressed better later on lol...besides the yello shoes

The home is another story lol. I do love the marble though and the rooftop garden/whatever she has going on up there. I dont mind most of her decor, but that golden dollar thing...is a choice.

That reminds me when I look up the most expensive homes near me on Zillow and most of them are so gaudy. Just because you can afford doesn't mean it looks good

So Ayu's home doesn't seem so bad by comparison

I disagree. The definition of what good interior design is in Japan is very different to the rest of the world. What they consider expensive and luxury is what an average European would consider kitsch and poor taste. It’s not just ayu’s house, it’s the expensive hotels and restaurants that also have this awful kind of interior design all over Japan. In a country where the majority of buildings look like they were made out of legos where, except, from places that have a more traditional feel to them, I’d say we shouldn’t associate someone’s general taste nor an ability to build an appealing image with their awful taste in furniture 😁

I've never seen any building or home in Japan look quite like Ayu's lol. Except maybe Gackt's but his looks better.

Plenty of hotels I’ve been to in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto that go for a more “western” look remind me of her house. The one in Kyoto was a love hotel though xD
