Help with analysing songs?

Err... I'm new here and I'm a major Ayu fan ^^ I'm doing a presentation on Ayu in my music class and I need to analyse one of her songs, preferably one of the happy/bouncy kind.

I was thinking of Honey, since it's my favourite at the moment. Greatful Days would work too...

I was wondering if anyone could help with that. Things about the lyrics, backround of the song and an interpretation of the music itself. Like, if there's a particular pattern and melody, if something changes during the chorus or bridge, etc... oh, and how it sets the mood, since the song (even without knowing the lyrics) sounds happy and hopeful to me. The question is, why? ^^

It might get a bit technical since I would also need to know what instruments are used and how they're used.

I know it's probably a hard thing ^^;; But I'd really appreciate your help, and I think it might be fun trying to analyse songs of our favourite singer, ne?

So thanks in advance (and I hope this post is okay... it's my first one, after all ^^;; )

Hi Azami! Welcome to AHS. Hmmm... in my opinion most of her happy-bouncy ones aren't really that good for ANALYSIS for a class, since alot of them are kind of disingenuous and don't have much to them even lyrically, except for ANGEL'S SONG and AUDIENCE. Those two are pretty personal and both very sweet. AUDIENCE would be a fun one to interpret, too, as the lyrics really speak to her fans but are still very personal, and were included on the "Duty" album whose title refers to her duty to her fans as an idol. The hand claps in the song, encouraging audience participation, shows how ayu "doesn't want to lead, but doesn't want to follow either" (that's a lyric in the song).

That's the song I would do if i was going to try a happy bouncy one. If you click on "Masa's translations" under the top banner here, though, you can read up on the meanings behind alot of her songs, and if one strikes you as interesting, listen to the song itself again and see how the music & arrangement carry the same message as the lyrics.

Good luck on your project!
