QUESTION: Why do you like Ayu?

I really want to get imput from other people on this. I've been reading articles on Hamasaki Ayumi lately, and I was just wondering what attracts you, or makes you like Ayu so much?

For me, it's her drive and her emotion. Even though I am a guy, she is the me I wish I was, my role model, in other words. (>,< no, I don't wish I was a girl) But I wish I was more like her -- hard working, nonstop, etc. I wish that I was able to convey my emotions like she can, primarily through lyrics and such. I write lyrics, O.O TONS, binders full, but I'm kinda shy to share. I wish I was open like her, and could write such beautiful lyrics like she can (i.e. RAINBOW, Who..., appears).

I guess it's also because I can relate to a lot of what she says in her lyrics. My heart breaks every time I listen to A Song for XX, or RAINBOW, or fairyland. She taps into my emotions like no other artist has. Her lyrics make everyone elses seem shallow... I guess, to sum it all up, the reason why I love Hamasaki Ayumi is because she brings out the best in me, she makes me more in touch with my feelings, and she motivates and inspires me to always do better and express myself.

My reasons are basically the exact same as yours. It was never her looks or fashion etc that drew me in (although that's a bonus). It's always been and will always be about her lyrics and the emotion that she puts into her performances. I feel like I can really relate to many of the experiences that she writes about.

Answer: Well, the first time I heard her sing was back at the A Song For XX days, at that time I didn´t kind of get impressed in her songs cause I didn´t even understand what she sang, after that I continued to listen to hiphop that was of course just about sex,drugs,guns etc. But since 2 years back I discovered a bit of myself in my confused teenage (well I´m still 16 but ok..) and wanted to express my feelings in some way but couldn´t and still not found the way to do it.
But when I bumped into her really nice "Appears,Who..." and all of her ballad songs at that time I found something that could pull me together for each day and that is why I kept/keep listening to her 24/7 depending on situation,feelings and place I always have all kinds of songs made by her. At that time I haven´t seen her face yet so I started "searching" info of her and download tons of stuff and when I first saw her I was like "Whooaaaaa, what a cutieeeeee" ^^, but underneath Ayu there is the "real" ayu that I discovered after watching NTV 2004 special interview and that made my decision to make a place for her in my heart/brain So that´s why I like Ayu not for her lyrics, not for her beauty but for her personal self that keeps me ALIVE for each day ^^

BG Info: At some point of time I thought Ayu was some stupid singer who was basically a studio manufacture, a person being used by Avex as a money making robot so I didn't like her that much. Well one day I decided to buy her RAINBOW album (Yes, the one you all bash ) and I thought, hey not bad after all. Then I found out she wrote all her lyrics and was impressed- Maybe she does have some talent. Then I went online to search for her info and forum, listened to more of her songs and got even more attracted to her as a singer.. now shes one of my no. 1 favourite

Anyway after reading her lyric translation online, i can really relate to some of it, it's very honest, and it brings you close to her in a way. I never see her trying to be fakishly nice to make an impression, but rather it is the music that shows us her state of mind and feelings. Her lyrics are also good in the sense that they're not just all the time whining about being dumped or one-sided love that not everyone can relate to.

I also don't mind the shrill thing from her singing that a lot of people tend to dislike... while she improved vocally underneath, becoming less nasal and more power thats something she retained that helped me to identify her when I got a bit interested in her, when I lost interest, when I became a big fan.

Other than that basically... I dunno. She just has this power of attraction and charisma.

I like her because her music is very emotional and genuine. She is also very charismatic and is able to come up with original songs and lyrics. She is very talented.

Why do I like her? Because she's not like other artsists, she's somehow another to me. She is really talanted, and she really works hard-that's why I admire her. Not even her attractive look (even it works too!), not style-just Ayu herself: a talanted hard-working machine (she is really a machine). Comparing to other artsists, I see her the best. Her hard-work is the main reason of being fan. She loves her fans. I haven't seen anyone who loves his/her fans so much. She makes her carier using lyrics and music. She really tries to be the best, and she really can be the best. Why can??? Somehow, bad things happen in Ayu's life too, and popularity goes away by little steps. Back to topic-she's a talanted and hard-working, it's not easy to be such both. And she has a good sense of style, voice, music, aoppearance-everything is developed on 100 %!

Okay, seriously, Ayumi Hamasaki is my favorite singer, hardly anyone comes close to being my fav singer. Why I like her is because of her strength and her will to go on in the tough music industry, just making hit and hit non-stop, it takes a lot of skill to get to that ESPECIALLY becuase her writes all of her lyrics. Her music is so unique, it's such a break from the "pop" crap we hear a lot X_x;. ANGEL'S SONG was a nice pop song tho ^^- poker face is extremely 0wnz as well

She's very inspiring and brave, writing lyrics about her experiences good or bad, just pouring out her feelings into the media, risking bashing and whatnot. Her lyrics are deep and meaningful and her videos all have some sort of symbolism. I don't know if she designs them or not but if she does, she's definitely way above average in an aristic sence. It's hard to write lyrics, especially un-cheesy ones, with a deep meaning. I repsect singers who write their own lyrics [like Hikki] .

Her voice is off the chart amazing, you can feel the power in her voice when she sings, it's amazing, she a very strong singer too, she knows out to belt it out it out without going flat like other singers.

Her fashion sence is awsome You never see anyone in the music industry contiune for years without showing much skin, except Ayumi.

She's a hard worker, dealing with concerts, talks shows, recordings and everything throughout the year, I can imagine it's a very hard process.

For me, it's her voice. Ayumi may not be the best singer out there, but she has a warmth to her voice that I really find endearing. There's a track on LOVEppears (I forget which one, maybe someone can help jog my memory) where the first verse is hidden under vocal processing, but it then falls away to reveal Ayu's natural voice - I love that transition, and it's where you can hear what I'm talking about when I say "warmth" if you don't follow me. Besides that, her voice has changed a lot from A Song for XX to the present day, and I like hearing it develop, listening to what stylings she keeps and what she tries differently.

Her lyrics also interest me. I won't say they've changed my life, but she explores her ideas with surprising clarity. There's no fluff: it's all dedicated to whatever message she's trying to communicate. I respect her for that.

And of course, us fellow cookie-lovers must stick together! *sings "UNITE!"* "cookie~e wo migi te ni..." >.>

Why I like Ayu? Well, I got hooked on Ayu when I downloaded a couple of her songs... the first song I heard was Endless Sorrow, and I just loved her voice... also the emotion and effort she puts into her singing.... when I heard that song, even before I saw the PV, I felt really sad listening to it... it was really moving... most of her songs are like that.... Of course, it's an added bonus that she's so cute, and beautiful~ And the fact that she writes all her own lyrics... not something you see with Americans singers... ^__^ To me, she's very special...
