Ayu most likely won't retire. She'll probably do this until she's dead. She's very ambitious, likes what she does, and other female jpop legends of the past are still recording. Ann Lewis, Seiko Matsuda, Yumi Matsutoya, Akiko Wada, Akina Nakamori, Mari Hamada, Nokko of "REBECCA"... none have retired. Releases may be fewer & further between than they were, but it's only cuz now that they're not as popular, they're getting the chance to have a life. But they're doing what they love & what they're good at, and they're not stopping because they still get inspired to continue.

Please people, stop worrying about ayu retiring. It's SO unlikely she'd just suddenly stop doing something she's been doing for over 10 years (if you count NFN). Worst-case scenarios? Might take a break for a year or two. That's entirely likely. Might wanna get married & have a baby at some point. But she'll come back (like Namie and Aikawa Nanase and Seiko and so many other jpop singers who've had kids), probably with songs she's been working on during those two years, probably some great material in there. Another possibility she might change record labels at some point but no signs of that happening right now.

Seriously, calm down. If ALL those other singers are still going, why wouldn't ayu?

A slower pace is neccesary. She can't shine forever... all stars eventually fade, but remain remembered and active.

Thank you, D-Z.

I dunno...maybe not
But if she's planning (but NOT) or we can say with a better word than retiring or she could do some rest or vacum a bit from the music world..yeah like 2 singles a year..(forget to quote that..sory)

She could use some "AYUMI HAMASAKI FINALE ARENA TOUR" at the Tokyo Dome or some huge place..and all the avex artist should come to respect her as the Queen of Avex....

crazy isn't it...

I don't know how large Angelinas tatoo is, while it of course is possible to hide Ayus too. But she's exposed in a very different way - on stage, live.

I think the whole thing is pretty petty to start with, I just had to keep it up.

Aw, come on, guys... all of this talk about retirement is making me sad. I mean, what if she does, and what if it's sometime soon?! I don't want her to stop making new material. :'(

I don't think that Ayu's retirement is close, although I do believe that she's already hit her peak. I also believe that she will continue to be in there for several more years at the least, or leave and make a comeback. She still looks young after all!

You said it. I'd have said she was 21 if I'd looked at her in BLUE BIRD and I didn't know who she was!

not to worry. ayu loves her career. there's been numerous times that i had saw articles writing about ayu being a workholic, having too many opions, fussy or tomoya's dad dissapprove of ayu because he felt that ayu puts her career before his son......so and so....although some are just rumours or tabloids, it's all focusing on a point, ayu LOVES her job.

even if she gets married, have kids.....i bet you that she will still be performing on the stage. THAT is her life!

Hmm, I think its true, the Asian tour next year, because Ayumi herself said it at the Avex conference after a-nation. I have the video with chinese subtitle.

Or maybe perhaps the chinese subtitles weren't accurate, and were false just to speculate.

i hope its real.

I actually think those subtitles might be fake, if you have the video, please upload it, because I think there's people here who can confirm if it's fake or real.

Thanks a lot, I hadn't seen that clip previously. I will make a thread asking about it, because I'm very curious. I thought it was all just a rumor.
