I'm also curious to see, and other countries where Ayu releases records.

Maybe I should go look for them.

You can look, but I doubt there's any as comprehensive as Oricon, Billboard, or the Official UK Charts. Only big music markets have proper charting systems and sales figures.

The Malaysian one sucks so bad.

in Singapore, we have a lot of cd charts. but the biggest one should be RIAS.

Yeah, I wonder why HMV charts are separated from the main charts? It's the same in Australia too. Then wouldn't the total charts be inaccurate since HMV chalks up the majority of CD sales in certain areas?

HMV Charts only account for sales within HMV stores, which only makes up a portion of overall sales, why would that make it more accurate than charts that include sales from other record stores also?

Sales in Hong Kong is monitored by IFPI, they don't make their sales figures public on a weekly basis. Although there supposely is a ranking, but I'm not sure how you get a hold of that neither. You pretty much know only when a record reaches Gold, Platinum or whatever. Or whatever record labels claim their releases to have sold.

There's a HMV weekly ranking in Hong Kong, you can check it on their website. But it's more a sales ranking for "wealthy people who don't purchase music all that regularly", no one who buy CDs regularly shops there.

Anyway, they don't have a web chart in Hong Kong, and websites from China loads so slowly I don't even know if it's worth trying even if there's one. On most occasions of trying to download something from a website based in China mainland, it tends to run at less than 1kb/s.

But adding HMV sales to the total charts might at least increase accuracy.

True. No one with passion for music would buy there unless forced to. It's the same with SPEEDY.

And thanks, Slowmoth! Your avatar looks like Ayu showing us "the finger" at first glance.

RIAS gave up on producing charts quite some time ago but I'm not too sure why. Could have been due to piracy or illegal downloading or stuff.

I know other than Japan, South Korea also has actual sales count. Korea's is done monthly by the RIAK and it is separated into foreign and domestic albums
