But why is it that expensive? Certain people does not have the money. Either way putting light and dark as one or two albums will affect the sales. Put them as one, less die-hard fans will buy the two covers. Put them as two, there could be a flop in the sales of one version.

edit: Am I the only person who thinks both albums will be flops? Though I dont like the idea of the two albums, it was a good idea so fit so many songs into a best, but the idea is still kind of weak. I mean, how does the backstage of a concert compare to a full concert? Plus the idea of "BLACK" and "WHITE" is nothing creative either. Though I know Ayu doesn't use Japanese titles, there are thousands of different contrasting characters which she could've use which also reflected the songs... I don't think I'll be buying any of these (because I'm broke ) but I'm still hoping for the best!!

The one with the backstage has a fully new song, that makes a lot of difference. I prefer liistening to an ayu new song than watching an entire countdown live.
BLACK and WHITE apparently were the best "characters" to describe what the intention was. I can't think of anything better, I thought they made a clever choice.

Black contains the actual CDL while
White contains the actual new song + backstage...

that pretty much makes it as..."BUY BOTH OF ME" and....I dunno...at a price of 46? dollars....that's a hefty price for anyone. Even for a BEST album....

on top of that, I do also feel that this might be a flop in a sense....recent sales of half a million, what if they both get only 300k each? for the first week....? One of the ways to save it is to have like freaking 12 covers, 6 for each like A Best 1, or A ballads...but I'm unsure of this...will it even make over 300k sales first week? Who knows...

WHITE has the CDL.

Secret was close to 400k first week, so I'd say that anything higher than 400k is a given for a best.. but for both? I dunno..

i think for both albums i would expect sales of about 1.3 million. You gotta sorta question the marketing strategy of having both albums on the same day but i love the idea of 2 different CDs. I'm sure no matter what the true tracklists are we won't be dissappointed, although i hope the track count is up near 18 and not around 14 per album.

if we don't buy the CDs in Japan, we won't have any influence about the sales anyway. so you can't just say "won't buy it, others won't either"~~
because we all know how the Japanese people are. since Ayu's sales have dropped a bit, there might be people who loved her I am... stuff or so. when then A BEST will be released, they might think: "it has some of my favourites on it aaaand some songs I don't know yet so why don't I give it a try?"
and it's also possible that people who were never interested in her just think: "wow, a best compilation. maybe I really should check her out [before it's too late]"??
you never know... I myself am waiting for the tracklist (I hope some songs will have been resung) and then I'll decide whether to get only BLACK or both.
and I think they'll both sell MANY copies.

I would of liked it better if there was a new song and pv for both black and white and they where 2 parts to a story, but if only one cd could have the new song I would want it to be white instead of black, black seems like it might sell more so white needs something else to help the sales.

Maybe the latest low sales for ayu were people awaiting for a second BEST? LOL

maybe ayu thinks that white will sell more because of the CDL with it so that is why black has the new song. It might of been the other way around, but I guess it is this way because the new is a sad one, that's way it is on black. I first thought that the DVD's where just going to have the pv's and the making of's, but I guess sense it was Best of cdl she decided to put them all together.

it's logical that it will be a painful/sad song, since her recently released singles only featured happy songs.
and I think that avex decided to do this DVD track dividing, not Ayu herself.
