I honestly don't think these sales are bad, it'd just be cool to see her sell more, as I think she deserves to.
Tv Lives: She had 3 and will have 4 more now...

Tie-ins: Don't depend entirely on hers, but also on how interested are industries, movies and dramas in liking their image to hers... Still, all of her singles had tie-ins

Radio play: Doesn't depend entirety on her

The fact is... she is not as popular as she used to be, and even if she is far from being irrelevant or hated, she can't just force her promotion through people minds anymore like she did at her peak...

Appearing everywhere everytime when u r new, fresh and the it girl: money

Appearing everywhere everytime when u r popular for almost 13 years: career suicide.

She is just focusing her promotion on people who already likes her... cuz really, right now, who already know her and doesn't like her is not likelly to changing their minds just cuz her song played more or cuz she had 5 lives on the same week on tv...

I think Ayumi will always be popular. 100 and something thousand copies. That means over a hundred-thousand people bought her album... That's still a freaking lot! haha.

=D

The day she sells "310" copies and charts #321 on oricon is when we should worry. Haha.

While I think we'd all like her to sell better, I'm a bit annoyed by the people who keep referring to these sales as low and a problem. They're NOT low, they're lowER, and there's no shame in that.

In constantly referring to these sales as low, you're sort of ignoring what she IS accomplishing, which is, omfg, another no. 1 album that will very likely go platinum. : /

^ Yeah, I understand that. I honestly don't think she is doing badly and should promote the way she used to, I'm pretty fine with how things are. I would like to see higher sales, however, just because I think she deserves it, and I was giving a few examples of how that could happen.

I think a lot has to do with the media for sure. And of course the promotion of the album. Her promotional routine has greatly been reduced...hopefully we'll see more lives. But I dun wanna harm her vocals too...hopefully her schedule goes back on track with Love songs being in Dec

@njanjayrp Just like Ayu, most of them have more big hits at their peaks and on the first decades of their careers... We can't expect someone with a 30 years career to spam hits on the speed of someone with a 10 years career and someone with a 10 years career to spam hits on the speed of someone with a 2 years career... On the same way we can't expect Ayu to spam hits on the same speed of Kana Nishino right now^^

@kagami I would love to see it selling amazingly well... But still, she is one top female (and overall) soloists in Japan, even if her career is almost 13 years old... People are focusing too much on her numbers and ignoring the context...

BTW, I would love to read some professional reviews to Love Songs...

i think it will do 180k first week! and looking at how steady sales has been, this should hit 300k as well if ayu performs her songs on tv more!

Ho! I just got up and checked oricon, and I was like, "21K? Wasn't the sales 18K?"
Glad to see the wrong sales last nite . It boosts my endorphin a bit (even tho I think 18K wasn't bad, still having more sales is always better)

Personally, I feel Ayu has done what she can (in relation to her health, time, schedule etc) to promote this album.

Anyway, except for Kana Nishino maybe and a little of Namie, it's safe to say that the rest of the female solo singers have been a "fail" in physical sales... heck almost everyone is only AKB48 & ARASHI are selling like hotcakes!

That's not really true, Ayu didn't get kicked off top 20 (the album charts) just cuz of those two...
