Ninomiya, a demon in the operating theater!

The actor takes on the role of a genius and arrogant surgeon with a 100% success rate in TBS's 9pm drama, starting April 2018! It's an Arashi member relay as 99.9 will wrap up in the same slot in April.

In his new drama, Black Pean 1988, Nino portrays Watami Seishiro (spelling TBA), an arrogant, sarcastic but brilliant surgeon who exposes the corruption and power struggles at a university hospital seeking to implement a new surgical technique.

Nino, who has already observed a heart surgery to prepare for the role, said, "It was a world that I had seen for the first time, so I was nervous." He was accompanied by a subject expert who explained to him what was going on during the operation.

Arashi's Ninomiya Kazunari Cast In Upcoming Medical Drama "Black Pean"

Arashi member Ninomiya Kazunari has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming TBS medical drama "Black Pean".

The drama, which is based on the book "Black Pean 1988" written by Kaido Takeru , follows a lone-wolf surgeon who has a 100% success rate and a genius suturing technique. His off-putting, arrogant attitude makes him unpopular with his colleagues. This becomes a problem when a machine is introduced to his department that is able to perform his technique, rendering him unnecessary.

"Black Pean" is set to air in April.

Arashi’s Matsumoto Jun & “Choco Jun” endorse Meiji Chocolate



Arashi member Matsumoto Jun appeared in a press conference for Meiji Chocolate held in Shiodome Tokyo, just in time for Valentines day.

Matsumoto is currently serving as the official image character for Meiji’s extremely popular “Meiji Milk Chocolate”. The Johnny’s star appeared in a dapper suit warmly greeting all the media that appeared.

When asked for some of his favourite Valentines day memories he shared that he once had a classmate whose family owned a sweet shop. The owners young daughter would give him a tremendous amount of chocolate every year for Valentines day, and once he got a nosebleed from eating so much!



In the past Matsumoto played a chocolatier in the 2014 Fuji TV drama series Heartbroken Chocolatier. When preparing for the role Matsumoto actually learned techniques from pastry chefs/chocolatiers.

When asked if he would like to give chocolate himself, Matsumoto stated that believes he still remembers most of what he learned while preparing for the drama. So he would like to buy milk chocolate, melt it at home, and then do his own creation.

Near the end of the press conference a chocolate statue of Matsumoto was revealed, where it was playfully named “Choco Jun”. Smiling, Matsumoto approved of the name and posed next to him for a photo-op. When asked to give a score of Choco Jun’s performance, he answered with 99.9% causing laughter throughout the room (Matsumoto is currently starring in season 2 of the drama series 99.9 Criminal Lawyer)

He closed by saying he hopes everyone has a wonderful Valentines. It’s a valuable day that only comes once a year, and it’s a great time to connect with many people through chocolate.

Arashi's Ninomiya Kazunari to play a surgeon in TBS series BLACK PEAN based on novel by writer of TEAM BATISTA

Arashi's Ninomiya Kazunari will play a surgeon for the first time in the upcoming TBS drama Black Pean. The series marks his first ever Sunday primetime drama and his first TBS drama since 2008's Ryusei no Kizuna.

Black Pean is based on Team Batista no Eiko series writer Kaido Takeru's 2007 novel Black Pean 1988. The novel has sold over 1.15 million copies and was shortlisted for the 2008 Yamamoto Shugoro Prize. A prequel to Team Batista no Eiko, Black Pean will star Ninomiya Kazunari as Tokiwa Seijiro, a surgeon with outstanding suturing skills. A lone wolf by nature, Tokiwa holds an ordinary position at a university hospital and is not interested in getting ahead. Though he has a 100% surgical success rate, his arrogant personality and behaviour constantly put him at odds with the people around him, earning him the nickname "Demon of the Operation Room." The medical series revolves around Tokiwa's clashes with the university hospital over surgical standards and the conspiracy behind the introduction of new technology to the hospital.

Black Pean will be written by Little Giant screenwriter Ushio Kentaro and helmed by Hanzawa Naoki and Rikuoh director Fukuzawa Katsuo. The series will begin broadcast in April 2018.
