I honestly think ayu fans are a little spoiled. Most artists release 10-11 track albums at every release. ayu usually releases way too many tracks in her albums actually. She's kinda an exception. And agreed on the album track and fillers. Like, I love most of Otsuka Ai's singles, but most of her album tracks I find really subpar (mostly 1/2 of her album tracks are good, the other half are just fillers IMO). Which is why I feel like, throughout all of the artist forums I participate in, Ayu forums seems to have the fans wanting and complaining the most. PV wise, she actually have a decent amount of PV on her DVDs.

o How she tries to incorperate 'rock' into her music.
o And how fans actually CALL it rock is what gets me...
o The waver in her voice.
o When she sings in english
o The english titles that don't make any sense.
Some say it's artistic. I say 'bad-english'
o Hate it how she's so materialistic & superficial.
o Hate it how she changed her voice after the Duty/A Best era.
o Lack of experimentation
o The fact that her new songs are played repeatedly on local japanese stations etc.
o HER ALIAN EYES
o She sucks live.
o Her fake hair
o Her change of style. Fahsion & music wise.
o Her seriously bad acting.
o How she grows her hair long and then cuts it all of, annoys me for some stupid reason >_<
o Her new songs are so much more juvinile and...well, not as good as her older ones.
o How some of her stuff is on itunes...i mean, people actually buy music on itunes? (people acutally buy ipods for that matter. they could be a little open minded about good quality products and wasting their money)
o The rumors about her. Especially the one where she caught std's from some secret prostitute line.
o The airbrushing.
o Her face in the 'decision' pv.
o Her more 'mature' and deeper voice.
o Her mouth looks weird.
o the diva attitude
o Her teath are too perfect. Too white.
o Hate her for releasing her 06 album 'Secret' so happy and sweet it makes me sick.
o How she smiles during sad songs.
o Her constant change in costumes during tours.
o How she doesnt wear glasses anymore.
o How she's stuck to her manager.
o How she's rich and can afford nicer things then I could ever afford.
o The fact that she is so secretive about her personal life. SURE she's human, she deserves her privacy. But she's a popstar! People WANT to know about her personal life. That's what you get when your famous.
o I wan't change but I want some of her old style back.
o I want more songs like Surreal/M/Ladies Night/Audience/too late.
o More remix albums. Even though I highly doubt the release of one in the near future.
o The smoking. (Ahhh...so that must be the reason for all the airbrushing!) Getting too old to quickly.

I agree that the summer single and winter singles have become very predictable. It's always a summery pop song around July, and a slow emotional ballad in November. I like her rock songs, but since they don't fit in with those images, they don't occur often enough.

what ultimately bothers me about ayu above all things is... (and i know it's not a marketing strategy but mostly from her own free will):

the hair. i guess its her signature look, as it is (the short blonde hair), it hate it bitterly b/c it's not truly her. it's like, she has disregarded her old self. think of it. what if you had a friend back in the old days and she looked every bit a lovely, sweet Japanese girl... and then she transformed into this rich & famous non-typical looking Japanese lady in disguise with huge westernized eyes and blonde hair as her new look that is so opposite of what she used to be... someone who did once hate make-up and acting girly. its like... she's become a puppet to the entertainment industry. she's made herself into this icon. sometimes i believe she totally disregards who she really is.

maybe she keeps writing songs with the same foundation of words like tears, reaching out for something, one's existence and identity... all b/c she can't seem to come to a conclusions herself. her lyrics are circular, with every song.

i come back to these thoughts every now and then. maybe tomorrow i'll contradict against this opinion myself... then change my mind again, hahahahahahaha.

but what's different about ayu is... she's truly passionate about her music. i think her sacrifice is herself so she could continue writing such amazing songs for every new generation. but yeah... i'm spitting out a lot of rubbish... then again... iono... maybe its my coffee. ok, i'll leave it at this.

Ayu was a badass in her teens.

Anyways, I would like her to have darker hair. But blonde hair's highly popular in Asia, as with big eyes, because we like what we can't have. I have Asian friends from Asia who told me that if they have the chance, they would make their eyes bigger too. I think black doesn't actually suit her that well, but I think she looks good with brown hair -- kind of chestnut brown.

She talks about herself as a product named ayumi hamasaki. She knows she has responsibilities to herself, her staff, avex, fans and so on as that product. By recognizing that, I think she is always in touch with her real self. That's also how her lyrics are so honest, it is the real ayumi hamasaki we see, even if she doesn't look like the typical Japanese pretty girl.
