People make mistakes or rather, just fall out of love. She shouldn't be punished because of it. She has so many fans (best selling female artist of all time in Japan) so I think everything will go well and it will become something of the past (the divorce).

Yes, this! She is only human, not Super Woman! Who cares about the nitty gritty details! We will get over this!

I kinda feel it shows bad judgement on her behalf...
I mean getting married, what less than 6 months after meeting the man...
And then just leaving him in LA...
I know they both of their own personal life's, but still... come on..

But that's life, isn't it? When we fall, we pick ourselves up and keep moving forward.

I have to admit, I agree with it...I mean, who does that? Well, I suppose lots of people do....HOWEVER. You never really know what people are thinking when they make rash decisions like that. Perhaps she felt alone and thought maybe this was it and married Mannie. We'll never know. But yeah, it is poor judgment on her part, but either way I'm sure she'll be happier now than before being in a loveless relationship.

Media don't seem to let it go, check what picture of Manuel they included, of course the 'spread leg' one from the 'private' book <_<
The media should just shut up and LEAVE HER/THEM ALONE!!!

A divorce is no reason to look down on somebody. If a relationship doesn't work then it doesn't work.

I know quite a lot of people who were in seventh heaven before they got married and after it, their relationship went downhill and they got a divorce!

I think the sooner somebody realises that it's not working the better.

Ayu, your true fans stand right behind you!!!

^^I have to disagree. Why do you guys think that they didn't talk about this kind of thing before they got married? Ayu is not a dumb woman and I don't believe she would rush into a MARRIAGE with little elaboration on their lives and their future together. They both knew that it was going to be a long distance relationship to some extent. They both are busy people with hectic careers, but to blame the distance on either of them is ridiculous. I think it would've been alot better for their marriage if the plans of them finding a house together in the US went through, but the Tohoku disaster changed that one big factor.

Its hard to say how much she planned. They way things have turned out makes it seem like she didn't really plan too well, but she is 30-something and has a lot of friends and staff to help her through these decisions. Perhaps they sat down and hatched a plan, perhaps it was a more or less spur of the moment thing. We will never know~

I don't really know what happened and the truth will probably never come out but personally I don't think they tried hard enough. I was actually surprised that she used the earthquake as the reason, it seemed more like an excuse really.

I think it's possible for someone with even the most level of heads on their shoulders to make a completely irrational decision, especially if love and infatuation are involved.

It is.

But I'm sorry, even over here in the US, a celebrity would get highly criticized in the media for eloping in Vegas and then getting divorced a year later lol

And there's just going to be speculation all over the place by everyone, and uh I think a general view is going to be that, there wasnt enough logical thinking going on.

I have to say this is kinda expected. Some ppl can blame ayu for abandoning Mannie in US, pple can also blame Mannie for unwilling to join ayu in Japan. And it continues with at least ayu had the desire to leave her home country for her husband once..

I am not really sure ayu has to give Mannie a sum of money cos our local laws state that the richer half will have to give a sum of money to the poorer half after divorce. If thats the case Mannie is just a gold digger haha

Where is their marriage registered? Nevada or California? And are either considered alimony states?

A news program in Japan cited that Mannie's unapproved decision to make the risque photo book was reasoning for the divorce.

So even in Japan they're citing weird things, lol.

^^That's probably gonna be hard on Mannie. I mean, he's not exactly famous in the US, so any sacrifices he made are gonna be hard to fix. He has the photobook to haunt him for the rest of his life. And now the Japanese are gonna think of him as that nudy guy Ayu make the mistake of marrying. I dunno. Maybe his life will go back to normal and he will forget being married. Its gonna be funny when he explains his dating history to his next girlfriend "I was married to the most famous female singer in Japan for a year". She might think he's joking, lol.

both of them I believe.

I doubt Ayu would have gotten married without a pre-nup...but god, who knows.

I hope they both get good lawyers, and hopefully it doesn't turn ugly. I can't see it happening...but...who knows

Speaking of Super Mannie... it makes me wonder if he had any clue about her feelings =/ Would he have done the photobook if he did know?

^That's a good point. Depends on when it was shot, I guess. In that message at the beginning of the book he sounded like they were still in love. Or at least, he was in love with her.

Going back to celebrity images in different countries, I can't see fans not buying a Brit album because of her 48 hour wedding, but I could see Japanese fans doing it to Ayu...

EDIT: Its clear from Ayu's message that she no longer feels the love for Mannie, and she was the one who initiated the divorce. I wonder if Mannie was shocked to hear about her feelings? She's a lot busier than he is, I'm sure, so not only did she probably stop thinking about him when they were married, being focused on other things, she is gonna have a faster time getting over him because she has such a large network of friends and things to keep her busy.
