After watching SONGS for several times, I have no doubts that it IS indeed edited. She is pitch-perfect during five songs, which just isn't possible. She didn't go off-key even once! Even very trained and talented professional singers will make mistake at least once during 5 songs. They fixed her voice very gently and it also helped that she really did a good job vocally, that's why you can barely hear any artifacts from pitch-correction and she sounds very natural, but if you listen attentively you will hear those artifacts in Step by step and Evolution on those notes that were originally significantly off-key and even after they fixed them they sound a little bit weird. For example during last chorus of Step by Step when she is shaking hands with fans.

The better she sings, the better she will sound after editing. That's why. Editing can't do miracles if a singer did a bad job.

Since SONGS wasn't aired live, I think it'd be very possible that them would edit her vocals.

I also was amazed and quite surprised by the NHK performance... I almost convinced myself it was entirely not edited and that her vocal training was doing wonders.
I still don't know what to think about it.

The only thing I'm sure about is that her a-nation vocal performance was far from being good (and it is not just because of the sound system), and that editing can really do wonders... Just compare unedited TV lives and edited dvd/blu-ray version. You can really tell the difference with vocals from the same day. They can even edit her when she is crying to make her sound like she is still singing effortlessly and being on-key.

Well, at least they didn't overdo the voice editing for NHK SONGS. I really love that.

As for her a-nation performance this year, she didn't sounds too bad. I should watch the rest of them now that my internet isn't being a total bitch to me. I have only seen a part of Wake me up and full performances of End roll, Step by step, Sayonara and DEPARTURES.

If you wanna know how someone actually sings, you have to listen to then singing a capella, alone and without any mechanical device... Even microphones can enhance some voice aspects.

She could be. She's becoming more active again and her voice does tire when she works a lot. She probably has the TA rehearsals too going on in the background
