This type of poll isn't really new. Ayumi and Ayaya have definitely been in the top 10 lists for these types of polls. Stuff like this is usually in a women's magazine or a tabloid magazine. While it does represent a part of Japan, there are obviously more who are fans of these girls.

I think people just don't like Ayu because she's always been there :\

If she were somewhat like Hikki without her image splatter about Tokyo and so on, perhaps people wouldn't have such opinions of her.

And as for the Japanese youth not liking Ayu... perhaps they're followers of general trends, and have liked her at some other time, but eventually hooked onto a more recent trend that is "in."

And the fans may disagree but in Japan everybody is absolutely positive she (and Koda Kumi) had plastic surgery and they'll probably laugh at you if you say you don't believe it.

Actually, I think the only celebrity japanese think didn't had plastic surgery is Utada Hikaru. Because even the actors and the boyband members are believed to have had the eye-enlargement surgery and the surgery to make you face smaller (it involves your jaw).

But she's still one of the most popular singers among OLs and teenage girls.

^The ironic thing for me is (maybe it's just me), but Utada Hikaru changed the most (physically) out of all the celebrities. Maybe Toshiba-Emi hired a new make-up artist, or simply because Hikki wasn't into the whole "expose image" thing. I was watching Momentum PV the other day and I swear some shots looked exactly like "you" PV (the ayu one, not the Kuu one XP), but older, of course.

Koda Kumi got that mole removed, but that's not really plastic surgery.

I think that probably the reason why no one really believes that she had plastic surgery could also do with the fact that, from what I've heard, Hikki isn't really, like, beautiful to the Japanese People in the same way as Ayu and Kuu.

I love Ayu not because many people love her. I love Ayu is because I love her. Love her for what she is, no matter the time, location and situation.

Itz not true that I love Ayu coz she's famous. Itz because of her fame that I got to knw about her existence, if not I prolly duno she even exists. If Ayu's not famous and if I saw and knew much abt her character and personality, I would love her too. Fame has nothing to do with me liking Ayu, at least not for me.

Those who left prolly aint really her fans, just people who arent sure who they like/love. Ayu's prolly a temp pitstop for them. For me, Ayu is my final and permanent pitstop.
