^ yeah, I prefer A Song for XX a-nation'08 and AT08 over EVERY danced song(or rather almost every danced song^^), it was choreographed, but in a natural way and not in a dancing way

Madonna did very great performances. I like to watch her most performances. But, Ayu is the most I love. So, I won't betrayed Ayu in this thread

well i was a big fans of madonna after ayu appears in my life
i have to say that madonna concert are most clevers, she have better taste and better dancers, she rework her songs for her concert and that awesome

but ayu is better in the emotional side, in fact madonna performances never make me cry or feel emotional...ayu does...ayu touch my heart because
i can feel love and passion in her eyes

for me the most important think about a good ayu concert is the set list, and the visual (original) themed "my story tour" "(miss)understood tour" and "PCDL 08-09"
are the glory for me and the emocional side is other importact fact

i dont like when she re-use old ideas, and one think that alway make me feel bad about her concert is that she never re-work her songs...SURREAL, UNITE! evolution ..always sound the same for me on stage, and the classic CUTE secuence of her concert make me Shame.

Haha..after watching the two ASIA TOUR's of AYU, it's just about right for me to react in this thread

VOCALS - even with the grand sets and costumes, dance routines and enchanting special effects, if the vocals aint captivating enough then it might just ruin the concert. It shouldnt be all about the visuals. In Ayu's case, i have no complaints. She's bringing it all! I hope it really is the way i see it on video and on real and unedited LIVE.

DANCE - i like the simple dance routines that an audience can follow while singing along. It makes the concert more enjoyable and interactive

THE BAND - need i say more. Yo-chans guitar solo's are awesome but sometimes i think it overpowers the rest of the instruments (especially the keyboard).

THE STAGE DESIGN/ THE VISUALS - I love Ayu for always bringing the WOW factor in every concert she does. It really shows how committed she is in giving her fans an AMAZING performance)

For me, there are two types of "good" concerts.

Type 1: I love concerts with lots and lots of theatrics like Ayu's. It's a really amazing experience just to watch a recorded Ayu concert. To be there and see it life seems like it would an almost life changing experience too. I also love that Ayu really pours her heart out and gives amazing emotional performances.

Type 2: Concerts without theatrics or concerts that don't have very many theatrics. (ex. Utada United 2006) Sometimes I actually prefer this kind of concert to the first type I mentioned, because even though theatrics are great and fun to watch-- people really should be attending the concert for the MUSIC. So, concerts that lack theatrics but have amazing, new live arrangement versions of songs are so great to watch!

On very rare occasions does Ayu actually make a new arrangement of her songs for singing live. That kind of saddens me. Her best live performances have definitely been the ones where she uses alt. arrangements like the acoustic evolution from AT07 and the orchestra performance of JEWEL from TV. Those are stunning and I'd rather her concerts be more like that sometimes. I love the whole "unplugged" sound. It doesn't even have to be "unplugged" sounding-- just different like Passion, COLORS, or Devil Inside from UU06.

^ Oh yes... lol it's VERY rare that Ayu does a different mix of her songs... I think the only one I really know as of now are HEAVEN in AT 06 and evolution in AT 07... most of them are just the original mixes with very long piano/guitar solos.

Madonna, on the other hand, has done plenty of different mixes of her older songs... and thus she can mix her setlist around a lot... cos she can make the songs flow... not so much for Ayu eh lol~

Ayus DVDs are all edited and her ASIA TOUR 2007 is said to be the most edited of them all. If you want to watch her unedited concerts, you should watch the first TV versions of her COUNTDOWN LIVEs she had every year from 2000 on, they were broadcasted live in TV, so they can't be edited.

The first spoiler for each section contains the completely live broadcasted version.
