Kazuya Kamenashi gearing up for DREAM BOYS 2012

New talents are getting ready give a show about young dreams, failure, and friendship in this year’s Johnny’s stage show DREAM BOYS, it was announced at the show’s press conference, reports Yomiuri Shimbun on July 18.

It has been reported the show has been running since 2004, and this year Hey! Say! JUMP’s Hikaru Yaotome, and Kis-My-Ft2′s Yuya Tamamori, Toshiya Miyata and Kento Senga will join the cast. In contrast, KAT-TUN’s Kazuya Kamenashi has been involved with the show since it’s first season.

“For the first time I’m the oldest in the group. I’ve known these guys since they were little, I hope everyone will look forward to what we create together,” Kamenashi said.

Last year Kamenashi pulled off difficult stunts like acrobatic jumps five-metres in the air, and complicated wire action sequences.

“I don’t feel I’m putting pressure on myself. I don’t believe in forcing myself to work for something that I think will be cool,” Kamenashi said.

The KAT-TUN star also said this year’s show would be a team effort, with everyone bringing what they each do best to the show, including Yaotome with his stage performance skills, Senga with his dancing, and Miyata with his sense of humour.

“I hope we can mash up all of our talents together,” Kamenashi said.

“It’ll be a colour only the five of us can bring out,” Tamamori said.

DREAM BOYS begins it’s season at the Imperial Garden Theater in Tokyo from September 3. Tickets go on sale on August 4 to the public.

Fumetsu no Scrum will be released on Sept 12th. It will be available in three versions, wherein the first press regular edition will have Koki Tanaka's solo (TBA) + PV of the said solo. This is the start of a special project by KAT-TUN wherein each member will get their own solo PV for every new single release.

With lyrics like “Chase your dreams with your buddies!”, “Fumetsu no Scrum” is a song describing the bond that exists among friends. Always game for new challenges, KAT-TUN is releasing the single as the first part of a new project. In addition to the “Fumetsu no Scrum”, there will also be member Tanaka Koki’s solo track along with the inclusion of the PV in the first press regular edition of the single. This will be linked to the solo PVs of the other members in subsequent KAT-TUN singles. Furthermore, the release will include a special clip featuring all five KAT-TUN members.

Info on new KAT-TUN regular TV series



Following on the popular success of similar TV show specials broadcast at New Year’s and in April, the show where KAT-TUN learn from the ダメ (dame, no) things in life will now become a regular 30-minute TV show from August 24.

The first episode will be a one hour special.

KAT-TUN’s Koki Tanaka to Play a Monk in “Ooku” TV Drama



It has been announced that KAT-TUN‘s Koki Tanaka will play a monk named Gyoukei in the upcoming TBS drama “Ooku ~ Tanjou ~ Arikoto. Iemitsu Hen” where Sakai Masato plays a priest named Arikoto. Gyoukei will served as a disciple to Arikoto who will joined him in the inner chamber with 3,000 men vying for the affection of the female shogun to be played by actress Tabe Mikako (Tokugawa Imetsu).

“Ooku” is a popular manga by Fumi Yoshinaga that was made into a movie back in 2010 which stars Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari and Kou Shibasaki.

The story revolves around an alternate history in Edo period wherein a mysterious plague affects only the male population. Due to the nature of the plague, male’s population have plummeted, which leads to a role reversal wherein females became more dominant than men. Female even hold the highest position at the time (Shogun) wherein only Shogun’s can keep a harem of handsome and unproductive men known as Ooku.

Furthermore, the drama will follow Vol.2 to 4 of the manga and will have another movie adaptation to be shown in theaters this December.

Co-starring are Yumi Asou, Hiroyuki Hirayama, Nao Minamisawa, Toshinori Omi, Yasunori Danta, and Takashi Naitou.

“Ooku ~ Tanjou ~ Arikoto. Iemitsu Hen” will start this October 12th, 10:00PM (JST) at TBS.
