I've always enjoyed her rock tracks personally.
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but you can't always please everyone either. Seeing Kuu playing drums and guitar, she obviously enjoys it and is good at it too, so having more songs where she could do that would be a nice thing. I also think the fans think it's cool she does that. But I also enjoy her dancing. So upbeat dance songs are also my thing. |

The only rock track I even kinda liked was No Man's Land. And even that one has its issues.
Unless you count Work It Out!! That's more poprock, but I adore it. |

That trailer is... well, it's not bad, the cuts were good, but it's so weird to hear her live vocals singing a part of the song and the image showing her singing a completely different part... the lips don't match at all for most of the trailer and I find it so awkward lol

You guys are talking about her rock-ish tracks and that amazing performance of real Emotion with new arrangements from the Black Cherry Tour comes to my mind

The concert looks like something very different from her past ones. More minimalist, stronger focus on Kuu herself. That could go with way. Her outfits were all on point, though. She looked amazing!!!
Kuu does rock well, but I don't like her doing it too often. I always prefer her rock re arrangements. But, I love her for her more urban sound.

Well, Kuu is doing rock tracks anyway, so I think it would be a good idea to use it with her new abilities for promotion.

A bit off the current discussion, but does anyone have the studio versions of AT THE WEEKEND from Dejavu Tour and of the Shake It Up remix from Kingdom Tour to share? I think I lost them

For me only a really good ballad can make the general public give her more attention.
I like her upbeat rock songs (like Selfish and Ningyo Hime) more than those that she's releasing lately, and I still can't get over how disappointed I was about No Man's Land with 80% of the song being rap. Maybe a midtempo song, like I'll be there, with her playing guitar would be a good option. She doesn't have songs that are more based on guitar, does she? The only song that I remember is Chiisana Koi no Uta, and it's a cover.

^All for you's album version is a acoustic guitar version.
I personally love that version more than any other version they have since made of it.As for the rock discussion. I fail to understand why fans suddenly want a rock album from Kuu so much. I seriously don't. Her thing has never been a rock singer really. It's a side of her Koda Kumi image. Nothing else. She has never expressed any sort of desire to release a album full of rock songs nor she has tried to make it into a dominate part of her image. I get that she looks cool on stage singing rock songs (they do sound better live, I can agree on that) and playing guitar and drums etc... but I don't think she really has any sort of desire to release a album dedicated to one music style only. She would have done that already if she felt that way. I also think that the Inazuma Rock thing is also a one time exclusive thing. She wanted to fit in so rearrangements were made. I don't think those would have been made if it wasn't a rock festival, lol. :p |

I used to have Shake It Up's Kingdom Tour studio mix years ago! After I lost it, I was never able to find it again and no one ever mentioned it, so I just forgot about it.

I hope she tries new things in 2016 like she did in 2015 with her """"rocktronic"""" sound
I enjoy her rockish songs but half of WOML is rock (or rock influenced) so I'm kinda done with Rockish Kuu for now. I do hope she never releases another LALAx3, Poppin', Hashire or whatever though. They're all the same. |

^Exactly. WOML has a lot of rock influenced tracks in it. They're not pure rock but a fusion of rock and urban pop. I don't really mind that because it still meets my personal music taste pretty well, but pure rock songs are what I have a lot of trouble getting into, lol.
Isn't that Shake It Up remix included in one of the DH albums? I don't remember which one but someone here said the remix was the same she used in Kingdom Tour encore section. O.o |

But Kuu never really made pure rock, it's pretty much always a fusion, and nobody ever mentioned something about a full rock album. xD

^I wouldn't call Ningyo-hime, hashire!, LALALALALA, Poppin' love cocktail, Boom Boom Boys, Can We Go Back, It's all Love!, No Man's Land, I'll be there or Selfish fusion rock.
As for the rock album, there has been people crying how Kuu "has to release one asap" on this forum and on few other places too, but even a thought of her ditching other music styles she uses just annoys me more than anyone can realize lol.

I personally would call Ningyo-hime rock but I'm bad with music genres anyway so if it's more of something else I'm not surprised.

For me Ningyo hime is her "most rock" track, followed up by Can We Go Back. Then I'd say Hashire!, LAx5, It's all Love!, Work It Out! and Poppin' love cocktail are pop-rock, and songs like FREAKY, Fake Tongue Selfish, Hurry Up! and Boom Boom Boys would be something like dance-rock, not full rock but not a plain dance song. Oh, and No Man's Land would be a rock-rap, a watered down version of a Linkin Park demo lol
And just to make myself clear, I am not demanding a full rock album but I see her going more into her rock side as an awesome opportunity for her to go on a new adventure, since going for urban or dance wouldn't be much of challenge. But then I don't even know if she feels the need to change for rock, this will depend on her. I just would like to see that happen

Well, in case a rock album is gonna be released, I just gotta stay open minded and trust that Kuu makes it more interesting than the usual rock songs by other artists are. Because some of Kuu's already released rockish tracks are really good and the ones on WOML sounds very interesting and unique.
I also noticed that if I really think about it, there's pretty much only 4 rockish songs that I don't like that much (Poppin' love cocktail, LALALALALA, It's all Love! and hashire!). Other ones I do like quite a lot actually. In all honesty I think that the rock versions for real Emotion and m.a.z.e. are actually better than their original versions. I dunno about Bling Bling Bling's rock version though. I haven't listened to it much recently. And in case someone really got offended over my outburst, I must apologize. It wasn't my intention at all. I wasn't even pissed off at you people or your opinions really. When I came here, I was already annoyed by some stupid argument that happened in one of my favorite facebook groups. I shouldn't have come here to let the steam out like that. Now that I read the messages, it just makes me feel so ashamed. Sometimes I just can't seem to keep my calm and control my temper, lol. Lesson learned and remembered. Next time I'll go play Angry Birds instead to calm myself down and then post here. :'D |

The thing is, Kuu has so many "personas"
We have urban, kawaii, rockish, erokakkoi... some songs have all of them mixed together lol To many, this has always been an issue. To me her versatility to adapt her style to different music concepts is something I have always liked the most about her. I'm always excited to know which direction she's headed next. |

I do hope we get to hear either a ballad or something electro from Kuu next. This year we had a lot of rock which was nice but I'd like something else for the next era.
