I listened again the previews and now have a different impression.
Not all are of my taste, but some sounds very good.

Lipstick, Last Love and UNIQUE are my favourites right now. Maybe Yuushatachi. The rest sound the same for me.

About WING I will say is so miliyaish and i love it, I missed that sound in her

^uff, weird taste but oh well. It's not like Kana Nishino makes bad music, she just got stuck in it and more glittery over time. + not to forget that Miliyah started that sound.
I won't deny she has more existing songs, but that does not make these bad. As i said, Yushatachi is a great song with a great meaning and quite similar to ShonenShoujo.

That said, this Album is clearly made by Sony rather than her. I bet other artist may have chosen other songs. It's just a save bad to get with the more well known.


I still hoper she das ASFXX on her Cover-Album.

^it really is a safe release. I wouldn't mind if like half the tracks were more safe sounding, but it's like all of them, which makes this release not inspiring to me but boring.

But her covering A Song for xx would really be great! I have to say that since listening to Doukoku for the first time, I wanted a cover album from her and I still think that she did a grest job to do something new with Doukoku while keeping it's original essence. An official studio cover of A Song for xx would be great and I'm sure she wouldn't disappoint.

the tribute album is up on itunes (except for 4 songs...for unknown reasons) and I actually enjoy it. Milyiahs songs are chill to begin with.

Ayu certainly is an interesting absence given that Kuu, Namie, Utada, Mika, Shiina etc. are all featured..............

EDIT: I too wonder if Miliyah did ask to cover A song for xx and was denied - we know that that song has special significance to Ayu, but I would also be surprised if Miliyah didn't ask to cover one song out of a requested selection? i.e. M, SEASONS, BLUE BIRD, Dearest, etc.

Ayu has so many hits, I imagine Miliyah has more than one favourite Ayu song, so hmmmm.

I am honestly hoping A Song for XX will be a surprise 8th track on the first disc. Why else would there only be 7 songs instead of 8 like on the MAN disc?

I think her covering that would be a huge draw to people; it would make very little sense for it to be included as an unadvertised track imo.

I still find it weird that she isn't there tho. Ayu Covers are rare nonetheless, especially for a star who influenced a whole generation of teens, which still leads me to believe that it is rather hard to get her approval.

I was thinking this exact thing lol. But I’m not holding my breath.


Still, I think it’s a mistake on Ayu’s part to not offer her songs to other singers to cover. Especially since Ayu sings covers of others songs in concerts like, all the time lol. (Maybe this is why she doesn’t want people to cover them?)

I'm not getting my hopes up either regarding the first disc having a hidden track, but if Miliyah were to include one as an Ayu cover, it would be a really cool homage to her given that LOVEppears, I am..., RAINBOW, etc. also include hidden tracks.

But yeah, it's highly unlikely that Avex would be willing to sign off on a cover without it being thoroughly promoted as an inclusion - I imagine Sony would have a similar approach.

In the case Ayu and Avex did turn down a cover request, I agree that it seems silly to do so, particularly as Ayu seems to be active as ever at the moment. Also, it's highly unlikely that a cover would ever eclipse the magic of the original, moreso if it's a mega hit, so any insecurities that they may have about allowing parts of her discography to be covered would be irrational?

I would like to see more Ayu covers in the future, simply because her peak was two decades ago now. It would be a great way of introducing her music to the youth again. I almost always listen to an original after being introduced to it by a good cover - I imagine most people do, so why not?

Regardless, I'm really looking forward to this album!!! I loved Wing, it was very 'Miliyah', so I'm hoping she transforms these covers to reflect her own artistry (while of course respecting the essence of the originals).
