Me too, Yoake, me too. No luck in my search yet though. I was secretly hoping spandau or any of the other regular PV uploaders would have captured it by now. We might end up waiting til single release for a DVD rip. In other news, Seiko's schedule has been updated with quite a lot. Mostly morning news/talk shows, SONGS on NHK is the only program where we can expect a song being performed.

TV Schedule:

2011/11/18 - Hiruobi! (TBS) [website]
2011/11/21 - Mezamashi TV (Fuji TV) [website]
2011/11/21 - ZIP! (NTV) [website]
2011/11/22 - Yajiuma TV! (TV Asahi) [website]
2011/11/22 - Sukkuri!! (NTV) [website]
2011/11/23 - ZIP! (NTV)
2011/11/25 - Mezamashi TV (Fuji TV)

2011/12/07 - SONGS (NHK)* [website]

*200th episode special, hopefully all new stuff.

That's pretty cool. Shoko has always been such a big Seiko fan... "she is my goddess" etc. I still remember that epic HEY!x3 episode three years ago.

As figured, a top 10 position was a bit too much to expect considered the tough competition this week. It probably could have made it with different strategy or if Universal chose to release another week. The first two days: 14位→15位.

Doing OK if compared to the singles released in the past decade though. Only Aitai (2004) and Ikutsu no Yoake wo Kazoetara (2010) have been ranked higher.
But enough of that, we have a new Astalift CM. It will broadcast two days from now -- Our two lovely ladies are back.

Oricon + Xmas Dinner Show

Some updates on Tokubetsuna Koibito's ranking position.
14→15→20→16→11→17→17位 = 14th weekly, 15,780 copies.

Concert Tour 2011 Cherish DVD ranking as well.
5→7→7→6→9→10→14位 = 7th weekly, 5,306 copies.

Might end up beating Call me (2003) as her third most successful single in the past decade.
As for the DVD, yes definitely a top 10 weekly.

Very pleased with these numbers! I'm so glad this single is doing well. Hopefully she'll be confirmed for Kohaku this week as well which would just make this week perfect.

I know right. The two ladies are my favorites when it comes to 80's era idols. Absolutely big fan of both, Kyoko Koizumi and Seiko that is. Was very happy the moment I heard they would be working together on commercials for the Astalift product. Sooooo Seiko is actually attending Kouhaku Uta Gassen for the 16th time, and first time in 10 years! The theme is "Let's sing for tomorrow". I've speculated on what song would fit their theme. Ruriiro no Chikyuu comes to my mind as a valid choice, although she already sung it 1986 and 2001. Considered that she will also perform the song on SONGS this upcoming Wednesday. Perhaps practice in advance for Kouhaku?

One other concern is, how will the schedule work out? Similar to Ayu there is a Countdown live to attend, both of their shows are starting at the exact same time (21:30 opening). Only difference is that Seiko has further distance to travel than Ayu. Rumor has it that she declined in the past because of the CDLP interfering. In any case, we can expect an early appearance from the two.

And must admit that I got surprised that NHK invited Sayaka to Kouhaku as well. Surely didn't expect that. Maybe her mother had a thing or two to influence the decision.

Self-cover or by other artist? Out of her single releases, only a select few have self-cover English versions:

- Anata no Subete ni Naritai
- Gone with the rain
- Anata ni Aitakute ~Missing You~
- SWEET MEMORIES

[unofficial stuff that were not released on cassette/CD]

- Nagisa no Balcony (request by fans on The Best Ten program, performed twice on TV, summer 1982)
- Nobara no Etude (live performance on radio, 1983.03.27)

Hmm, might have forgot something.

Ah, check out this picture, together with Takeuchi Mariya and fans during a recording for the All Night Nippon GOLD radio program.
She has avoided public recording of shows ever since the Okinawa incident back in March 28th, 1983. It has been 28 years.

All Night Nippon GOLD will broadcast on December 16th at 22:00~ JST.

Taira no Kiyomori

I try not to double post unless there is major news.

There was a Taira no Kiyomori (51st NHK Taiga drama) promo event yesterday. Below are some pictures I've collected from various Japanese news websites.

Synopsis: During the late Heian era, a youth who did not know his birth parents was raised by the Heike (also known as the Taira), a samurai clan of emerging influence. Taira no Kiyomori (Matsuyama Kenichi) was in truth the illegitimate son of Emperor Shirakawa. With his adoptive father, Tadamori (Nakai Kiichi), he got rid of the pirates in the Seto Insland Sea, and was trained to be a samurai. In a period where the samurai were being discriminated by the aristocrats of the upper echelons of society, Kiyomori, who was adept at winning hearts and minds, controlled the pirates. He worked to reform the aristocracy, persisted with the way of life of the samurai and built up the mighty Taira clan (Nakamura Baijaku, Kamikawa Takaya, Fujimoto Takahiro, Daito Shunsuke). Before long, he rose from a senior courtier of the third rank to become the chief minister and the ruler of Japan.

Matsuyama Kenichi attends the pre-screening for the first episode of “Taira no Kiyomori”

A private screening of the first completed part of NHK’s new taiga drama “Taira no Kiyomori” was held on December 12th. Stars Matsuyama Kenichi, Nakai Kiichi, and Matsuda Seiko were in attendance.

Matsuda is starring in the role of a court lady from Gion who served as Emperor Shirakawa’s beloved concubine for many years, as well as helping to raise Kiyomori. She said of her character, “She was a smart and charming person who was skilled in song and dance. She was also a woman who possessed a warm, motherly air.”

Matsuyama also praised her performance, adding, “She was the person who was closest to Kiyomori, and was like a second mother to him. [Matsuda] has perfectly expressed her motherliness and loving atmosphere.” Matsuda was also entranced, saying “I was also overwhelmed and moved by Matsuyama’s Kiyomori. At any rate, it’s wonderful.”

Matsuyama stated, “Although I only appear for about a minute in the first episode, from the second on I’ll appear quite a bit. Once again, I want to do my best to move the hearts of the viewers.”

On the other hand, Nakai noted, looking back on the taiga drama he previously starred in, Takeda Shingen (back in 1988), “I was warmly surrounded by many senior actors at that time. From now on I have to be the one to help out, and my role is to bring Matsuyama-kun through this drama in the best shape. I hope to be able to have him feel like he was glad to have been in this taiga drama a year from now.”

The 74-minute first episode of Taira no Kiyomori, “Futari no Chichi” will air on January 8th, 2012.

Kouhaku Uta Gassen + radio report

http://www9.nhk.or.jp/kouhaku/topics/111220_2.html

http://ameblo.jp/sayaka-kanda/entry-11112241997.html

It has been announced that Seiko will perform "Ue wo Muite Arukou" as a duet with daughter Sayaka. NHK will deliver live footage straight from the Tokyo Metropolitian Gymnasium where the Count Down Live Party is held. This solves the otherwise busy schedule, where they would have required to travel from one venue to another. The Count Down event opens at 22:30!

She performed the song in San Francisco earlier this year, as well as on the recent episode of SONGS, it's also part of the Xmas Dinner Show setlist.

Has there ever been a mother-daughter duet on Kouhaku before? In other news, Sayaka will be guest on Shin Domoto Kyoudai, the episode will air on January 22nd, 2012.

By the way, Seiko mentioned that she will already make an appearence in the first episode of "Taira no Kiyomori" (January 8th on air). This was said on radio four days ago. Lots of things to look forward to.

The All Night Nippon GOLD broadcast was very interesting. It was sweet how fans were to participate and interact inside the studio during recording. Two of them had the opportunity to sing "Tokubetsu na Koibito" and "Koe Dake Kikasete" in front of their idol. Was quite a nervous moment for the two but managed well in the end. Without messing/forgetting lyrics. Both claimed, when asked, that they had been fan for 31 years, ever since the debut. Special (tokubetsu) guest was none other than Takeuchi Mariya, the producer of the new single.

  • Fans inside the studio during recording.
  • Kouhaku and Taiga drama discussion.
  • Two fans sing the two songs from latest single, in front of Seiko.
  • Takeuchi Mariya as special guest.
  • Seiko breaks down to tears in front of Mariya-san.
