Just what I expected: ARASHI kicked Ayu out of the Top 3 after getting #1. ">>,
STILL, R/S did a great job!

More like 10 artistes kicked ayu out of top 10 (not even mentioning top 3). But I believe if ayu averages around 2k daily this week, she should make it back up. Maybe.

somemore fangirls are poor & they can't really afford an album unlike multiple versions of single that a Johnny band dished out Quote:

but as to whether can they get another yearly #1 just like what they did to Real Face , it's a different thing altogether it's great that ARASHI has already nailed it for the 1st day , I'm so proud ![]() Quote:

I'm glad Ayu made the #1 spot in the first week, it's too bad others pushed her out of it already, though.

Well if it does her any good, she's still the highest charting release that didn't come out on Wednesday.

And it's really silly how some people think that Arashi have been big for such a long time and that they are still popular, as they started getting more popularity from the end of 2006. (their highest selling album sold around 300k (2008), and their best ofs never sold more than 200k, sure that's normal for Johnny's bands.) The point is, I don't get all the arashi talk in this thread (YES! their singles sales are amazing atm and mysteriously all of their singles seem to have strong drama tie-ins), as pretty much everything's been said, no need to further compare them and keep in mind that even Ayu sold way better during her peak (and unlike them she was able to sell a couple of millions of her albums as well and not just the singles). Let's see if 7 years from now they'll keep what they have now. Until than I really think that all the arashi talk isn't needed here, as they still haven't done something that Ayumi Hamasaki didn't. And some people here that are Ayu fans are simply Arashi fans too. It's an exciting time these couple of weeks, so of course people will want to discuss. ![]() Anyways, Ayu held at #11 today. Arashi on their second day still sold a very impressive 135k+ Last edited by SunshineSlayer; 5th March 2009 at 11:08 AM. |

^I actually do love some of arashi's latest singles (not this one though). They aren't the only ones who got more popular after years of being on the scene (Koda Kumi, Namie Amuro (though this is her 2nd peak, I guess)). I am not saying their single sales aren't impressive (as they really are) just that I think their album sales actually show what people think of their music (not saying it's bad).
And no I don't think the sales are comparable mostly because Ayu's sales were strong when it comes to both singles and albums, while Arashi's aren't.Namie Amuro, EXILE and Mr.Children showed us that you can still sell a million with your album (and Hikaru of course) plus Kumi almost managed to hit 2 millions in 2006 which wasn't that long ago. And correct me if I am wrong, but "H" was #1 on yearly charts and it was the only single which sold over a million that year. Last edited by njanjayrp; 5th March 2009 at 11:31 AM. |

^ Yup! You're correct about it.
]-[ is the only single of Ayu that has straight #1 ranking: from daily to yearly. BTW, what's the latest R/S ranking?
