i love every song of "again" and "LOVE" (melody is the weakest one imo) and I don't care about they decided to make a clip for Melody...
in fact I'd be more worried if they decide to make a video for the best new song from "LOVE again album"...is a terrible idea ..but it is... since Mirrorcle World ayu started to make really questionable quality video clips ruining a lot of good songs with boring concepts and bad edition yesterday i was trying to watch her latest 20 videos and man is so difficult! so lame, tedious, unoriginal, faulty results, and other good ideas just give you the feeling of "Could have been better" Progress / Another Song / Why... / Beloved / Song 4 u / missing / wake me up / snowy kiss / you and me / NaNaNa / Shake It / Sunrise / Sunset Don't Look Back / Moon / Blossom / Crossroad / Sweet Season / Last Angel / Do It Again Last edited by perfectodub; 3rd January 2013 at 10:18 PM. |

Amazing editing, ususual choice of colors/lightning etc. And the whole "dream/apocalypse" atmosphere is amazing. Missing had a potential (it's technically very well made imho) but it came boring to watch. Song 4 u concept was amazing, but it end up boring as heck. And for me, a little cheap looking (even the wigs...) I will not even mention blossom cause I just don't dig "sappy drama story", but technically there was nothing wrong with it. And no Ayu so... MOON/crossroad was a yawn fest. And Ayu look in crossroad, it's so bad, I can't even think about it... Sweet Season had a fine twist, but there is nothing really interesting in this PV to keep an eye on it. Editing and peachy colors was fine though. Sunrise/Sunset looked cheap, but tbh there is something fun and good about them - just like I like to watch Fly high PV. I can't really say anything about Last angel... It was too complicated and the blue filter irritated me a little. |

I think people forget about the whole concept of NaNaNa / Shake it... its all about the cheapness/trashiness.

I think most of Love songs' PVs were rather good, it's just that some of Party Queen's were especially a bit... off.
They probably should have chosen different tracks to get PVs, or at least done NaNaNa in Japan and chosen reminds me for a PV imo. Her overseas PVs that are on location are always a bit less polished than the ones she does in studios while in Japan.

The problem with those videos for me is that they seem to celebrate cheapness & trashiness (same with the PQ album booklet, with ayu's happy facial expressions) rather than saying "hey, this seems fun but it's really bad for you," which seemed to be the point ayu wanted to make, you know?

To the previous conversation:
I still think Duty is a helluva lot darker than GUILTY. GUILTY, despite it's devastating themes, really reeked of a post-break up album (Together when..., fated, decision, (don't) Leave me alone). I think that one incident that would name the album later in its development has made people believe that is was about that solely... But still, if Ayu hasn't revealed what the songs are about, then any kind of evaluation can be considered reasonable. Current conversation: Yeah, the PVs aren't the epitome of idiosyncratic artistic vision at the moment, but then one could argue that her music isn't either. It is very, very safe for Ayu. I'm not saying that it's terrible (it's definitely not, her best music in years), but it still is safe. Although I'm not the greatest fan of Party Queen, I was glad to see her expanding her horizons and trying something different... |
