I dunno, I'm mixed. Of course I love it but I'm biased as said.
But i can#T deny that it is pretty noisey and the lyrics are bland. Moreover, I expected something less electronic from the description. I would have prefered an album in the vein of TSUKI and BRIGHTER DAY over this atm.
I initally thought she would leave the singles becaus eof the sound, but after the previes both SWEET KISSES and Ballerina could have fitted in there.

I was also considering canceling my preorder but as of right now the only tracks I'm not feeling are Scream, It, and Every Woman. The rest are decent and serviceable for what it is. Namie was never an artist I take super seriously anyways lol I mean, she's one of my faves but I don't need some lyrical substance from her or something new and "fresh". She's music I'll listen to driving around town with the windows rolled down while lip syncing (horribly) and that's it lol

Edit: It's been bothering me that Anything sounds so similar. I had to go use that 'tap your spacebar' site to figure out the song and finally realize it's Unpretty by TLC lol

I actually thought the whole thing does not stray to far from what Kumi wanted to do...only Namie did it better (Birthday and House Party have the same vibe)

Sort of reminded me of ARTPOP's direction but with more repetitive lyrics. Some of the tracks have potential but I've never been a huge fan of Namie's more retro-pop style... I'll wait until the full album to make a proper judgement though.

talking about the lyrics...I must agree...her lyrics are mostly about sex or narcism...really uninspiring...I can't take her lyrics seriously as well...

I'm always here for a good club-banger or a fun song about going out with the girls or whatever...but I didn't need an entire album full half-assed attempts at trying to pull that off (with unintelligible lyrics, to boot).

Ugh. I was so excited for this album. Somebody hold me. :'(

Right. Ugh. I know she's just a pop-tart and not meant to be ~profound~ and ~artistic~ but she's now making entire albums out of a language she doesn't even understand. tbh Namie's music/"artistry" has always been the most vapid of the jpop queens since she doesn't have like any input into it, but she's reaching whole new levels of pop puppetry these past few albums lmao.

The lyrics are nonsensical at parts too. They don't even sound like they were written by a native speaker? I mean we have gems like:

Quote:
Getting into my car,
or we'll let him wait
???

Do words even mean things?

Quote:
I hear them talking 'bout us, that we don't belong here
Guess it would make me sad but no, I don't care
????????????????????

Actually, this whole second track sounds like it was written by someone who took a few English courses and figured out that words can sort of rhyme sometimes.

Her target audience won't pick up on how awful the lyrics are but they're gonna bother the fuck out of me lmao.

The problem is that her target audience is Japan and they couldn't care less what she is singing about in English (since they mostly don't understand and can't figure the words/pharses/grammer/meanings) out. She will just keep selling good there regardless.

I love most of the stuff from the previews (I wish she would actually collaborate with David Guetta).

I also think that some of the lyrics are kinda repetitive and meaningless which bothers me a little. With namie I'm not looking for anyting breathtaking regarding lyrics but I could swear I heard a lot of phrases already in other songs she did. Music is not her problem at all but since she sings in it, she has to step up her game with the lyrics for her up beat songs (most songs).

Actually Anything sound like it will be her best English ballad (at least something).

Anyway I can't wait for the full stuff!

Someone already used the Liz Lemon gif oh well..
Lemme listen to it too, I need to feel better. I also calmed down with my preorder in the end, I didn't cancel it. The songs aren't as bad as I thought and they might be growers.

Maybe you should change the title of the LOVE TRiCKY download thread to "Album of the year"

Her lyrics are hardly ever anything special to me, so it doesn't really bother me. I have no expectations Although, I would prefer Japanese too. But that's just because I think Japanese is a prettier "singing language" than English.

Anyway. I'm not going to relisten the previews again. I want to songs to stay "fresh". I totally overplayed Ayu's previews lol

Golden touch is the track I'm most interested in.
Seems like amazing production value--but the lyrics...bleh. My problem with her english lyrics is the word choices. The terms are either too long, old, or just weird.

Like I think swag/swagger is officially dead.

Finally gave the album sampler a few play throughs. I personally never minded her singing in English, but I think she really needs to find a good team of lyricists for her English songs. She always works with the best producers, so we never have to worry about the music itself, but man... Some of these lyrics are so cheesy/bad that it's kind of distracting (I'm looking at you in particular, Birthday).

A lot of these songs would probably be a lot better if she blended Japanese/English rather than complete English. Every Woman for example is kind of a mess, pronunciation-wise (All the boys in the worl wanna meelus?). She should've sang the verses in Japanese. And Fly is amaaaaaaazing...but I have no clue what she's saying lol.

Lyrics aside, I really like the overall sound and direction of this album. It sounds like it's going to be a really fun album to dance and have fun to. The only song I don't really like is Scream, simply because her vocals are so overly processed and autotuned that it kind of hurts to listen to. I'm surprised there is seemingly an interlude on this album too; it sounds really nice though.

I cannot wait to model strut to Photogenic and Fashionista.

Absolutely love the previews! my fav is definitely photogenic, Fashionista and stranger! i have no problem with the direction that she is taking with the album. feels lik feel upgraded part 2 version. pretty sure that she's not going back to her past future and pre era anytime soon. but still loving the queen!

It's kinda sad they don't care. I have absolute OCD for grammar correctness. Not like punctuation but you won't see me say "I going to store" or "Thanks for give downloading album". I mean if it's not your native language it's ok but if they're gonna insist on putting English in a mainstream album they should at least have it proof read.
That being said Namie one again says "croud" instead of "cloud". Am I a bad person if I say "croud" and even "crub"? Mwuahaha
When I went to Japan I always said "let's go crubbing". Namie, her power and influence!
