Going to be really sad as we don't have any idea when or if Ikimonogakari will ever come up together again. It's a hiatus, but anything can happen... ;(

With that said, hopefully their solo projects will come up interesting. (And where's Kiyoe or Hotaka on Twitter? I don't see them anywhere!!! Only Yoshiki is on Twitter!)

Ikimonogakari's Mizuno Yoshiki is a father!

It's been reported that Ikimonogakari member Mizuno Yoshiki (G) has become a father!

Mizuno married a non-celebrity woman in August of 2013. According to reports, both mother and baby are in healthy condition. On his Twitter account, Mizuno wrote, "My mother had two hair whorls. She handed it down to me, so I have two hair whorls too. And now, my newborn son has two hair whorls."

Yuzu & Ikimonogakari reveal collaboration video for 'Irotoridori'

Yuzu and Ikimonogakari have revealed their collaboration video for "Irotoridori".

"Irotoridori" was released digitally by Yuzu in January of 2013. The collaboration version with Ikimonogakari will be included in their best-of album "YUZU 20th Anniversary ALL TIME BEST ALBUM Yuzu Iroha 1997-2017" set for release on April 26. The PV was shot while recording the song, and it shows the "sounds and atmosphere that only the 5 of them can produce."


Besides this song, the album will include "Sayonara Bus" by Yuzu and back number, as well as "Kanashimi no Kasa" by Yuzu and SEKAI NO OWARI.

These are certainly some interesting song choices (the Rugby World Cup theme song???) that sent me down some rabbit holes while searching for the original versions. That one Kenshi Yonezu song looks very lonely there with every other song on the album being 15+ years older, lol. I'm cautiosly excited for this release, it could be really nice if the arrangements of these songs are good.

Also, there is a promotional video for this on Youtube, but Sony Music Japan stays hating foreigners and the 21st century, so it's unavailable outside of Japan.

^ I'm disappointed Sony is still ignoring (some) foreign demands on YouTube, this behavior is toxic. They might have loosened things up for some artists (such as Nogizaka46), but for others such as Kiyoe/Ikimonogakari, miwa, Kana Nishino, etc, this is completely unacceptable. (>_<)

Okay, there is Vevo, but my problems with it are 1) not every artist has a Vevo, 2) not all videos are uploaded there (if there is one), and 3) quality is hit-or-miss. Unfortunately, Kiyoe and Ikimonogakari doesn't have Vevo, which really sucks. (I can't stress this enough: Get a VPN!)

Ikimonogakari is resuming activities as a band. They will also embark on a fan club tour for the first time in eight years next year.

Well, that indefinite hiatus didn't feel very long at all.

I don't like it. The sound is messy, the melody is uninteresting, the titular hook is not good enough to warrant that much repetition, and the energy is lacking. If this is what they are going to deliver, they might as well just get back to the meadows and keep grazing.

As for the latter, at the time of this posting, the official website is getting bombarded with that sudden Kiyoe marriage announcement.

All those music videos posted above from official Ikimonogakari Youtube channel, without the pre-2019 Sony geoblocking nonsense that we've dabbled for years. (Older videos may still be subject to that, but not these MVs above.) I don't think Ikimonogakari had a Vevo (since then, 'Vevo' channels have merged onto individual artists' official channels?), and Ikimonogakari typically doesn't put supplementary DVDs (Blu-rays these days) with their single releases.
