It's hard to decipher what a "rock ballad" is cause most of her rock songs have soft and hard portions to the song. I'm trying to decipher if decision is a rock ballad. count down? criminal?

For me countdown and criminal would count as rock ballads! End of the world could be a rock ballad as well?

At least with the TK song I know I will at least like it. It's a good feeling to just wait for a new single like in the good old days, can't wait for the covers and snippets !

^ I think decision would qualify... It's definitely got the rock part down but I feel it kinda teeters on the borderline between being a ballad and not.

count down maybe? criminal has a more orchestral arrangement than "rock" per se doesn't it? I haven't listened to either song closely in a while. :\

I couldn't be more thrilled that Ayu is releasing a winter ballad single, that is incentive enough for me to be content for the time being until the material is delivered.

Music is the most important thing in my life and Ayu plays a HUGE part in that. Music is my identity and therefore ayu is part of my identity. I think you misunderstand me because I choose to use very strong language for the things I dislike AND love. I practically starved myself for an entire year so I could make my dream of seeing her come true so if you want to doubt my fandom, go ahead; but one thing I can assure you is I am a passionate individual and ayu and her music is something I feel truly passionate about.

I'm glad you're glad about the single

Let's focus in the good things and appreciate that ayu is still releasing music because very few artists can say they are still active at 16th anniversary!!

Yay winter ballad! Definitely one of the things you miss when you've not had one for a few years. More excited for the rock ballad though, hopefully she delivers the vocals. She didn't sound too 'into it' on Colours, which was kinda disappointing. That's what makes Ayu Ayu, and it's not been there for a while (if that makes any sense).

TK's could go either way, some of his are good, some are... not.

For me, criminal is THE definition of a rock ballad. It is primarily ballad but with rock elements (rumbling guitars throughout the song). Some of the suggestions being made are more "mid-tempo pop-rock". Keep in mind, ayu had mentioned that momentum was not a ballad at one point, so anythinf that follows that type of template may not be considered a ballad by her standards. Anyway, I think we are reading too much into this. She mentioned memorial address and that's good enough. Lol.
